THE IMPORTANCE OF GEOGRAPHY

Geography deals with the distribution, variations, and relationship of

everything on the earth's surface: it's landforms, features, inhabitants, places and
natural phenomena on Earth.
Why is Geography so important ? How it will affect in our daily lives ? Why
should we study it ? Nowadays, just a few number of people already know the
importance of this subject and give value to it. It seems to have lost it's importance
in this kind of globalization. At this point, it's time to understand and know how
important it really is. Lets read below some reasons why we need to study
geography.
Geography includes the study of our home (Planet Earth) and of
happenings in our environment.
Through studying geography, people begin to appreciate how places and
landscapes are formed, learned to value and care for our planet and how peole and
environments interact. We will also understand basic physical systems that affect

natural phenomenon like thunder, lightning and even some catastrophes, water

Geography improves our navigation skills and develops our
knowledges in solving problem both inside and outside the classroom.
It help us to read and discern the maps, sketches, diagram, etc. Maps is really
important tools in geography.It includes the study on how to calculate places using
map and globe and also teach us how to identify the time of other country. We will
also learn the physical and cultural characteristics of different places in order to
function more effectively in our increasing interdependent world. Its also help us to
identify and be famliar in different parts of a map. We will enhance our solving skills
though calculation. Geography helps us to recognize different places by giving some
characteristics and culture of a certain place.
It involves the study of Natural Resources and Climatic Conditions
In geography , it also teach us about our natural resources and the climatic
conditions of our world. This two are really important to be our topic in study
because the former is our wealth from God that will let us to live and the latter have
a bearing on our living conditions. With the availability of this, we can say that it
shapes the life of every individual. According to my research,"There are 70 million
sheep in New Zealand-20 sheep to every person" and "In 1900's, almost half the

Should Know About). These aresome evidence that can prove that geography also
study the natural resources of different countries.
Geography is related to geology .
 They have both essential studies in our Planet. Why? Let us define geology
first . Geology studies layers of soil, land, etc. Why are certain places frequently
encounter soil erosion? Why are certain places more prone to earthquakes than the
others? What are the types of soil fount in various region? The answers to all listed
questions is included in geology. We can say that geography and geology have
connection and linkes with each other because they both study the landforms and
natural phenomena on earth. This study help us to know the natural disaster a
region is prone to thus ee can aboid in any kind of accident. It will also help a man
in planning the building of houses, dams, roads, and electricity projects. Knowing
types of soil in a certain region will help us to plant seeds in it's suitable so it will
