Dear Mr. Cox:

On behalf of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC), a national, non-partisan, grassroots
organization comprised of over 9,000 college students, college faculty members, parents of college students,
and concerned citizens, I am writing to request the support of the National Rifle Association in pushing for state
legislation, in right-to-carry states, that will grant concealed handgun license/concealed carry weapons permit
holders the right to carry their concealed handguns on the campuses of public, tax subsidized colleges.
In just the past two months, SCCC has inspired protests on approximately 125 college campuses;
received coverage from countless local, regional, national, and even international news outlets; and seen its
membership double in size. Our organization has received endorsements from law enforcement officials,
mayors, state legislators, and political pundits. Even the governor of Texas has spoken out in favor of allowing
concealed carry on college campuses. Our fast-growing movement has gained the support of numerous gun
rights organizations, such as Gun Owners of America, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear
Arms, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, Second Amendment Sisters, Inc., etc. However,
despite both SCCCs incredible momentum and the growing national support for concealed carry on college
campuses, the largest gun rights organization in America has yet to take a stand on this issue.
SCCCs momentum currently shows no sign of slowing. As our membership continues to grow at a rate
of fifty new members per day, and as print, radio, and television news outlets throughout the country continue
to cover this issue, we are working with state legislators to draft legislation in support of our cause, and ABCs
20/20 is putting together a story on this growing national movement. We are approaching what looks to be a
banner year for the cause of concealed carry on college campuses.
SCCC respectfully asks that the NRA usher in this New Year by openly and vocally supporting the idea
that CHL/CCW holders should be allowed to carry their concealed handguns on college campuses. SCCC and
the organizations that support us are making great strides toward our end goal, but we need the support of the
nations largest gun rights organization, in order to push this issue over the top.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience. We look forward to a long, mutually beneficial
relationship with the NRA.

Sincerely,

W. Scott Lewis
