Jeds Island Resort

What is now Jed's Island Resort, located along McArthur Highway,

Calumpit, Bulacan, started out as the private resthouse of a native
of Apalit, Pampanga. Then consisting mainly of a native cottage and
one swimming pool, the property covered only a few hundred square
meters, until engineering development started in 1994 to see the
construction of nine other swimming pools, deluxe air-conditioned and
open native cottages, a must-photograph hanging bridge, a stylized
waterfall, and several private or jacuzzi islands.

To achieve this, the purchase of surrounding land properties,

now nearing a total of ten hectares, was necessitated. In the process
of construction, a three hectare fishing and boating lagoon was also
produced by excavating tons and tons of earth from what used to be
barren land, creating what is now a balanced ecosystem for fishes and
other freshwater wildlife and fauna.

Jed's Island Resort was inaugurated over a year later, in April

8, 1995. The opening ceremonies was attended by some well-known
personalities in the showbiz and music worlds, as well a political
luminaries and local government officials.

The opening of Jed's Island Resort was in some ways instrumental

to the upgrading of the municipality of Calumpit into an economic
magnet, attracting guests and paying customers from all over Luzon as
well as foreigners from other countries.

 Two years later, in 1997, the resort opened an olympic-sized
swimming pool, its eleventh swimming pool, to cater to its growing
number of visitors, whereas late in 1998, the construction of one
hundred other native and deluxe cottages was initiated to bring the
total, by summer of 1999, to two hundred and twenty cottages in all
inside the resort.

During its five summers of existence, Jed's has welcomed actors

and actresses, singers, and band members from showbiz as its guest,
and many production companies have had the pleasure of shooting local
and foreign films in the resort's many scenic and camera-worthy
facilities.

Now a buzzword among Manila's resort going population, Jed's

Island Resort continues to attract the adventure-seeker and nature-
lover in all of us, offering grand panoramas of nature and a
delightful respite from the daily grind of life.

 The Wave Ball is green as it is a low consumption wave
generator that looks like a polyester sphere, floating on water,
which generates in a safe and controlled way, artificial waves of
stationary type, very reassuring for young and old people.

The Wave ball is practical as it is a low maintenance product,

it is easy and fast to install and it works with existing pool as
well.It increases the number of visitors and is mostly used in aqua
parks, public swimming pools, spas, campsites, hotels and resorts and
is a delight and a lot of excitement for young and old.

The Wave Ball is a fantastic fun element that increases the

popularity of equipped swimming pools (30-50 % additional
public). From a slight undulation to powerful waves of the open sea,
the Wave Ball gives life to your pool! It transforms calm water into
a raging ocean.

Why Wave Ball?

The resort will shell out a measly P14 pesos per hour in
operating the wave machine.

By equipping the resort with the worlds only intelligent and

energy-efficient wave machine made in Belgium, their monthly
electricity bill will be greatly reduced.

by surplus diesel engines. The Wave Ball is made upon order with
guaranteed new parts, with a one year warranty. But we are giving
another one year warranty, for a total of two years warranty to our

Ball Composition

1 The moving load : The vertical movements of this load puts the
ball in action. This load is moved by a rod-crank system
connected to motor-reduction gear.

2 The motor-reduction unit : Used to put the moving load in

motion. The motor is an asynchronous 12V AC motor.

3 Synchronization sensors : One principal sensor and one backup

sensor, used for motor regulation purpose.

4 Water sensor : Used for the detection of water in the ball

5 CB50 box : Used for sensor acquisition (water and

synchronization sensors) and transmission to the electrical
cabinet (modulation/demodulation signal) . Contains the
accelerometer for wave frequency and amplitude control purpose.

 6 Umbilical cable : The electrical power needed is supplied by a
cable coming from the electrical equipment.

The Wave Ball is the application result of three physical working

principles :

Archimedes principle: the Wave Ball is a floating sphere placed in

the tank working with the principle of the action/reaction.

 Inertia principle: a heavy plate (moving load) is moving up and
down inside the Wave Ball shell. As the Wave Ball is placed in the
water, the shell is moving up and down around the heavy plate which
is not moving thanks to inertia principle.

Resonance principle: as the Wave Ball is working with several

resonance frequencies, the energy given to the pool is kept in the
pool thanks to the freeboards. Each time the Wave Ball transmits its
energy to the pool, the waves are becoming bigger and bigger until
the amplitude of waves requested.

Wave Ball Wave Generator

Unlike traditional wave generators using a lot of energy hungry

pumps, WOW wave generators use resonance to efficiently generate
waves in your pool. The majority of classical wave generators use
pistons or fans are energy hungry, having to constantly push water
throughout operation. The Wave Ball applies intelligence in its
operation for a more impressive result. Wave resonance is managed
and recycled by computer software along with pool configuration and
environment changes to generate waves for your swimming pool
efficiently and effectively.

The Wave Ball

The Wave Ball is a floating sphere adorning your swimming pool

that safely generates artificial swelling waves. The Wave Ball can
be set to generate different kinds of waves, from slow and relaxing

waves to fast agitated waves, and with height up to about 1 meter
high.

How Does It Work

A 12V DC motor drives up and down a moving mass along the

vertical axis of the ball. This motor and its control software are
protected in the waterproof Wave Ball shell. Through sensor signals,
the control software is able to analyze ball movements and wave
frequencies, amplitudes and other characteristics. Very precise and
clever adjustments of motor speed create different types of waves.

The Wave Ball's force on the water, inducted by the mass

movement, initially creates the first wave which spreads through the
pool. Pool walls reflect this first wave back towards the ball.The
Wave Ball control unit is able to accurately determine the moment and
the force to give to the next movement in order to amplify (or
reduce) the waves.

The Wave Ball can be used in any pool of large enough size. For each
application, the WOW engineers optimizes the configuration of the

The Elastic

This elastic rope (pic 2) has been designed in order to resist

to the continuous movement of the Wave Ball; it is made of one main

rope and one safety rope which is several cm longer so it will break
after the main rope. If one of the two ropes is broken, the elastic
rope must be replaced.

Tips are equipped with stainless steel fast link shackles for
easy replacement (tear and wear parts).

In order to increase swimmers safety, rubber parts are placed

inside shackles and rings opening so it is impossible for swimmers to
pinch their fingers.

retractable ring. When the anchor is not in use, the ring is
automatically retracted in order to let a flat floor which is easier
for the robot washers for example.

WOW Company s anchors have been developed for each kind of pool
surface: tiles/concrete, liner and stainless steel.

For safety reasons, a finger protection part is delivered with

the anchor assembly.

Our goal is to create an aquatic environment that is both fun and
safe for you and your family. In designing the following rules and
regulations we are asking for your help and cooperation in abiding by
and enforcing them.

Safety Rules and Regulations

- An adult must accompany and be in direct supervision of children

under 12 at all times.

- Glass containers, coolers and outside food and drinks are not
permitted in the Pool.

- Please shower before entering pool and after using toilet

facilities.

- Running, jumping, chicken fights, shoulder play or body throwing is

not allowed at our facility at any time.

- Climbing the Wave Ball are allowed.

- No diving is permitted at the Pool at anytime anywhere.

- All guests entering are using the facility and attractions at their
own risk.
