Classroom Use Policy (CUP)

Students:
At our school we have the opportunity to use computers, smart boards,
and other technology to help us learn. However, using technology is a
privilege, not a right. That means that I need to respect the rules and and
only use technology as I am instructed to use it. If I do not follow the rules, I
know that may not be able to use the technology anymore, which means I
would not be able to do the games, homework, and other things that my
friends are doing online.
These are the rules I need to follow:
1) I will not get on the computer without my teachers permission.
2) There are some things on the computer that are bad for me. That means I
will only go to sites recommended by my teacher. If I accidentally go to a bad
site, I will immediately tell my teacher.
3) I will not enter my personal information online. This means, no:
- last name
- address
- phone number
- personal e-mail address
This is so I stay safe.
4) I need to respect my classmates and not look at their information or work
they have done.
5) I must do my own work on the computer. That means that I cannot use
information from the Internet that is not mine without giving the author
credit and I cannot use my classmates work.
6) To give the author credit, I need to put their name and the website in my
assignment and say what I used from the author.
7) I am going to be doing many projects on the computer with my
classmates. When I am doing a project, I need to:
- Share the computer. That means I cannot be on the computer the
whole time, and I need to let my group partners have a turn.
 - Follow the C3B4ME policy, which says that I will ask 3 of my
classmates for help before I ask my teacher.
- Be nice to my group members. That means I need to use my
listening ears, inside voice, and keep my hands to myself.
8) I need to use the computer properly. This means closing down everything I
am working on and logging off the computer before I leave my station.
9) I will not play games on the computer during work time, and if it is game
time, I will only play games approved by my teacher. If I am unsure, I can ask
my teacher if the game I want to play is okay.
10) If I do not follow these rules, I will get my privileges taken away.

STUDENT CONTRACT

I know how I should treat the technology in my classroom. I understand that

if I do not follow the rules, I may not get to use technology anymore. I also
need to be careful with what I look at. If I feel uncomfortable with any
information I see, I will immediately turn off the monitor and tell my teacher
or the adult who is in charge.

As parent/guardian of the student named above, I understand from time to
time our school may publish students work, projects, art, etc. on district
websites open to public access. Students full names, home addresses, or
telephone numbers will NOT be published on district web pages. Group
student photos can be published showing students working on projects and
other activities. First names can be published with those photos. Students
will not be identified by full name on any photo.
