As a substitute teacher, I report to various school offices in Seminole County at the beginning of my assigned school day to pick up required
materials/schedule of classes. I efficiently carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher or create my
own if the teachers leave was unexpected. I create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and
interests of the students. My responsibilities include guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as
indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned. I employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for
meeting lesson objectives, while maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, by straightening chairs, tables, and ensuring students are able to
navigate through a safe learning environment. I take attendance in accordance with school procedures and indicate to students at the beginning of
class the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with school policies and procedures. I perform duties usually required of the
absent teacher such as lunchroom, recess, and hall monitoring, etc. I learn the emergency evacuation routes for the classroom assigned and
become familiar with school procedures and regulations.
Used this opportunity to determine which age group I would prefer to work with. As a result, I learned that I had a passion to teach any
student the necessary life skills to support them in creating a path towards success, as I have done for myself.
