Art 1 -
In art 1 students are introduced to a
learn the fundamentals of art, and creativity,
all while being encouraged to explore their
own individuality and to express themselves
through the visual arts.
Drawing-
In drawing, students will work on de-
veloping techniques to help them think criti-
cally about art, and drawing specifically.
Students will create large scale pieces, and
work on developing their skill set.
Painting-
In painting, students will work on de-
veloping techniques to help them think criti-
cally about art and painting specifically. Stu-
dents will also learn about color, and the col-
or wheel.
Graphic Design-
Students will learn the basics of de-
sign, and look at commercial and local adver-
tising, all while developing their own tech-
niques. Graphic Design offers many real
world experiences and opportunities.

Events
Students enrolled in the Art
program here at Pleasant
Hill high School have the
opportunity to participate in
several events, such s the
Fall, Spring, or Studio
Shows. The Nelson Atkins
Design Challenge, and The
UCM High School Art Exhi-
bition.
Students have received
awards in pervious years at
both the Nelson Atkins De-
sign Challenge, and the UCM
Art Exhbition.

Ceramics-
Students will develop artistic skills,
and work to achieve basic ceramic tech-
niques. Students are encouraged to explore
and to push the boundary's of their medi-
um.
Sculpture-
Students will be able to choose be-
tween several different mediums. From
there, the students will put together a cohe-
sive idea to build off of for the rest of the
semester.
Studio-
Students in this class will be asked
to think out side of the box, and push their
creative boundary's. Each student will have
to come up with a concentration that will
carry them threw the semester.
