Compare the Major Systems

of the Human Body

By: Sia and Fiona
Digestive System
Function of the system necessary

The function is digestion which means to break down food.

Organs in the system:

Small intestines
Large intestines
Stomach
Esophagus

Interesting fact: The small intestines is the major organ in the

digestive system, not the stomach.
Circulatory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The function is to deliver oxygen, nutrient molecules and the

removal of carbon dioxide.

Organs in the system:

Heart
Blood Vessels
Arteries
Capillaries

Interesting fact: The heart beats about 3 billion times in an

average person's life.
Respiratory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The main function is for the lungs to take in the oxygen and
to take out carbon dioxide.

Organs in the system:

Lungs
Trachea
Nose and Mouth
Diaphragm

Interesting fact: The right lung is slightly larger than the left lung.
Nervous System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The function of the nervous system is to carry signals from

the brain to the body.

Organs in the system:

Brain
Nerves
Spinal Cord

Interesting fact: The left side of the brain controls the right side
of your body and the right side of your brain controls the left
side of your body.
Skeletal System
Function of the system necessary for life

The functions of the skeletal system is to give us support

and shape, as well as protect organs and make blood cells.

Organs in the system:

Bones
Cartilage
Ligaments

Interesting fact: the adult human body is made up of 206 bones.

Muscular System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The function of the muscular system is to attach to our

bones so that they can help us move.

Organs in the system:

Muscles
Tendons

Interesting fact: Muscles make up 40% of your weight

How do the systems work together to maintain the
health and fitness of the human body?
Provide at least 3 detailed examples of how the body systems work together.

1. Nerves work together by massaging the other organs that can send it to the
brain which message your body.

2.Your skeletal and muscular system work together when each bone is connected to
each other and the muscles help one another move.

3.Your respiratory system and your circulatory system work together when your
lungs provide your circulatory system with oxygen for it to take around your body.
