have migrated to the online environment .Some claim that the

traditional way of teaching (face to face interaction) is better than
teaching and learning online. Discuss both views and give your opinion

especially students in higher education institutions. Online learning is a learning
activity for online with internet access and provides learning materials that can
also be downloaded. Online learning is more focused on learning remotely.
Learning face to face also is a conventional method of learning in which students
have to attend classes or courses taught by lecturers. This learning method is
focused on the delivery of information from lecturers and the students just listen
and record the information conveyed by the lecturer. Now, there is an advance in
information technology and internet which induced the change of face to face
learning system to online learning. Both of these learning methods have different
features, advantages and disadvantages of each.

Learning face to face has features such as students get information from
lecturers who convey information. In this context, lecturers affect students'
understanding by delivering the information. This method is more focused on the
delivery method of lecture and question and answer session by the lecturers and
students. While the main feature of online learning is the use of electronic media,
namely computer that has an internet network to acquire information. In
addition, students can download learning materials such as modules and video
recordings via the e-learning portal. Methodology of this study establishes
bilateral relations between lecturers and students as well as fellow students.

The advantage of online learning system is that it can save time for students and
lecturers as learning materials are easily accessible and cost-effective. Students
and lecturers simply need to click the corresponding link to obtain any
information or learning materials. Students and lecturers do not have to bother
to go to class for the learning process on a daily basis. This method is more
flexible than conventional methods as students who are studying online do not
have to abide by a certain time. The important is that they should have access to
the internet and thus enabling them to follow the lessons that is not limited to a
certain area and can be followed wherever the student is. With this online
learning, lecturers and students can interact more easily in order to obtain all the
information from time to time. In addition, students can also easily create
discussion and communicate with each other, particularly in forming a group to
complete the task which has been directed by the lecturer.

The advantage of face to face learning methods is to enable lecturers and

students to attend classes or lectures to follow the process of learning, deliver
information and notes to students. Lecturers can explain the information easily
and well because there is a question and answer session and then the
occurrence of two-way interaction between lecturers and students to encourage
students' understanding. The impact, lecturers will better understand the level of
student understanding, broaden the scope of assessment of students' creativity
from time to time. Students can also ask any questions and confusion faced by
them. This learning method will help to smooth the process of teaching and
learning. The students will also be able to master the information conveyed and
will be able to answer the tests given in good.

Apart from that, online learning also have the disadvantage of having to use the
internet to access the information network. Therefore, it gives problems to
students who cannot afford to get access to the internet. This situation will cause
them to miss the lesson and make it difficult for them to accomplish the tasks
provided in a timely manner. In addition, there are also lecturers who are still
weak in the use of information technology, and this makes it difficult for lecturers
to effectively handle online learning. Lecturers must master the learning that
needs ICT skills in order to guide the students in their learning. Moreover, with
the current trend, this requires all the learning process at the fingertips.

The face to face learning is a conventional method. Its learning and teaching
materials that available are very limited. The students are more likely to attend
class and participate in classroom by listening to lectures from lecturers and
jotting down of any important information that has been presented by the
lecturer. Usually lecturers will use the methods of questioning and students will
give an answer. While lecturing methods used by lecturers is a way to encourage
students to listen when the lecturer gives a lecture in front of students. The
impact, students will feel less interested and lose focus on learning and may lead
to deteriorated performance. In addition, students will take time to the lecture
hall or classroom. The downside of learning face to face also is students can not
repeat what has been taught by lecturers in order to get a good understanding.

In conclusion, learning face to face has a better transformation of the existence

of an online learning system. The advantages and disadvantages result from
usage of both the medium of learning has to be monitored continuously so that
learning content to be used in accordance with the standards of learning in the
present and will produce students who are excel and high-quality in the future.
