ABSTRACT
coconut water. This portable lamp is designed to be convenient and able to use for at least
four hours or more. Coconut water is rich with essentials electrolyte that when undergone
redox reaction it can generate electrical energy. The proponents compared the performance
of young and matured coconut water as an electrolyte; the changed in voltage output of
stored matured coconut water; amount of matured coconut water needed that capable to
last for four hour; the discharging rate of portable lamp; and how long will electrode will
lasted. This research used experimental method to answers the problems. It also included
the design and fabrication of the portable lamp. The portable lamp is consists of three
layers the base, the bulb holder and frame. The proponents found out that matured coconut
water is more efficient to use as an electrolyte compare to young coconut water; 1440mL
of matured coconut water is more suitable to use in lighting the portable lamp that last for
17 hours; and the matured coconut water has the capacity of 9.6064Ah. This research
study will be beneficial to the residential off-grid and near at coconut farms to have a
19
sustainable lighting by means of coconut water which is abundant in their area; it is also
beneficial to the coconut industry to have another means of product through the portable
lamp powered by matured coconut water and to increase their means of living.
