Posters

Print the posters on card stock and laminate if desired.

Ideas for use:


Display the posters around the room during the week you
study the rhyme.
Place the posters on the refrigerator, bathroom mirror, or
other high-traffic area in your home.
Use as copywork for older children.
Have your child pick out all of the as or ds on each poster.
Choose a different letter for your child to find each day.
Teach your child about capital and lowercase letters.
Use the poster to introduce commas and periods.
If your child is an early reader, call out a simple word such
as the or cat. Have your child find the word on the
poster.

Polly Put the Kettle On
Picture Cards

Print the pictures on card stock and laminate if desired.

Ideas for Use:


Tape a popsicle stick to the back of each card. Then give
one card to each child. As you say the rhyme, each child
holds up the card when its their turn.
For example, if the child has the Polly card, she holds her
card up each time you say Pollys name in the rhyme.
Recite the poem several times, with children having a
different card each time.
Have your child say the rhyme to you using the cards.
Use the cards to put the rhyme in the correct sequence.
For example, ask, What comes next after Polly puts the
kettle on?

Reading Book

1) Print the reading book on regular copy paper.


2) Cut each paper in half along the dotted lines.
3) The pages are intentionally unnumbered so your child will
have to put them in the correct order.
4) After assembling the pages in the correct order, staple
the book in the gray area along the left side of the page.
5) Read and read again!

handwriting practice.
5) White space is left around each picture for children to add
in their own details. (grass, fence, etc.)

Cutting Practice

1) Print the cutting pages on regular copy paper.


2) Your child cuts off the bottom half of the paper along
the gray line.
3) Then he cuts the bottom picture along the dark black
dashed lines.
4) Using the picture in the top left corner as a guide, he then
glues his puzzle picture back together in the top box.
