CONTINUATION OF ETERNAL DESTINY Chapter 8 ish

If you are reading this, then I sincerely hope you understand the circumstances at which this
is written. I do not want to take the original authors, Tylers, place. But I sincerely want to
see this story finished in some way. I love Captius books, of those I have read, and want to
see the continuation of this world But DAMN! Writing is hella hard and tiresome. I have to
give it to the guy But 6 or 7 or how many months is a bit long. Again, I have no wish to
replace Tyler, but I want help. So here goes nothing and I wont be doing Richards POV for
the match

It was Daiya who was the first to wake. It was a sudden wakefulness, as if hit by
something. This something being the realization of feeling the firmness of the substance she lay
upon. There was a softness to it, but over all a hard, firm mat of Daiya sat up quickly and
dizzily of the bed. The second thing that shocked Daiya from the grogginess of sleep, was the
room the bed beds were in. A second one of the same thin type lay beside hers that held
Richard, who seemed to be still out. The room was dark, but light enough for her elven eyes to
see the walls made of uneven stone with plaster or something on and between them. A small
window high on the wall let in a soft grey light that lit the perimeter of her vision. Looking
down, Daiya noticed she was still in her clothing FROM THE MATCH! Another jolt of
adrenaline shot through her as she tried to recount last night. She She had won!
Sighing loudly in relief that the war effort was on the way to victory for her, she flopped
back down onto the bed. Then quickly looked to the side where her husbands bed was pushed
against hers. Richard lay on his back, mouth open to drool slightly, and arms crossed over his
stomach. The twin golden bracers sat coldly on his wrists, looking as if devoid of the power that
once ripped through Richard the night before. Daiya physically shivered at the memory of
Richard having to put down the darkness inside of him. She leaned over and shook her husbands
shoulder. There was no reply, not even a hitch in his breathing. Be him in a forced
unconsciousness or just sleep, he was in it deep.
As Daiya stood, and the thin itchy sheet that covered her fell off, she noticed it was oddly
warm for an environ where warmth was a commodity. Tip toeing to the wooden door of the
room, hidden more in shadow that the rest of it, Daiya thought it best for her husband if he got a
few more moments of beauty rest. The room now greeting the princess was a larger one, but
empty of most things but a few tables.
May, the Master of Fire and Arcane, sat leaned back in a wooden chair with her feet
propped up on a nearby table reading a book. A quiet fire crackled in a heath dangerously close
to her let down blond hair. Aura, her mother-in-law, sat on the other side of the table, sitting more
appropriately, reading from a stack of parchments. The two either did not notice her wakefulness
or just werent acknowledging it as Daiya stretched her arms, free from the smaller rooms
confines.
I wonder if I should dye my hair red. May said to the room. Aura hummed a little in
reply, but nothing coherent. I mean permanent, not just changing my face. A hum again was
the only reply, but it seemed May was more talking to herself.
Good morning. Daiya said to the two.
Evening. May replied, and kept reading. Daiya saw upon closer inspection that yes,
Mays hair was touching the flames but was left unsinged. Question 1. May used one hand to
poke at a certain point in her book, and the other to lift a finger. You were asleep for a good 20
hours so far. 2, why are you, myself or any iteration of the people here not up in the castle?
Because we dont want to be. Daiya was about to say something about the rudeness as May
continued reading, when Aura turned from her work and smiled at her.
Good afternoon, Daiya. Aura stood and walked over. You were just wonderful last
night. Daiya felt herself smile at the love her adoptive-mother-in-law gave her. Oh, Im so
proud of you two.
You can say that again. May added. Daiya and Aura looked at her May looked back.
Because your last oh forget it. May waved a hand and stood up. You two get some fresh air
while I wake the wayward hero. Daiya didnt have time to complain before Aura gingerly, but
sternly in the way a grandmother would, took her hand and led the princess out.
Oh, you just must meet the people to congratulate you. You battle will apparently be
sung for many years in Frand! What a glorious spectacle! Aura laughed softly. Daiya wanted to
say that she won the match for herself and not the future of the world, but noticed an almost
giddy change in her mother-in-law and didnt want to miss the chance of wondering why.
-----
May sat softly on the edge of Richards bed, sure that Daiya and Aura were gone, and
looked at the sleeping form, put there by herself no less. May traced a finger across Richards
brow, drawing his hair to the side. Even now, she fantasized about him waking one day as Roku,
as HER Roku. But as the feelings came on, so too did the knowledge that it was but a fantasy.
Immediately, May thought to use a spell or something to rouse the Master of Light, but on a
second thought turned away from it. Was she not skilled in the arcane? Might she not see what
the prodigal son of Aura Proud was dreaming? He had outwardly said that he had dreamt of her
lost love before
-----
This has got to be the worst year of my life. Worst year ever. Richard spoke into his
own head, his subconscious made conscious in this dead mind state Richard was always in after
a large exertion of his power.
Pretty sure that 1665 was pretty bad you know, because everyone died from the
plague. But whatever. Replied another, and when May delved deeper to find the source, the only
answer was Not Me. Or the Third great war on this planet. This being the Fourth now.
Get out of my head I need to wake up. Richard said to the Not Me part of his mind.
No, you need to rest. Or die die or rest. Choose one. There was a pause almost, May
did not believe that there could be pauses in thought trails, even in all her years. I dare you to
choose the wrong one. May was now more intrigued to learn just what was going on in
Richards head, that she magically sealed the door shut.
-----
Richard again saw the haziness of dreaming. He reluctantly delved into the long dead
mind of Roku, his ancestor. Faces swam by him, their names on the tip of his metaphorical
tongue. Then slowly but surely, the faces stopped whipping by and he settled into a distinct
memory. It was himself as Roku and another, the name lost to his swimming mind. A brother?
And close friend? Whatever he was to Roku, the two were in a heated debate Richard felt in his
bones. Anger rose within him and he feared he might unleash his power while asleep.
And what will the Great Roku do after this? When this war is over, when you have a
homeland free from the blight of our old master, what do you think it is going to be like? Have
you not given it any consideration, or are you too engrossed in your ancient tomes? Said the
other man, and as he spoke, controlled anger rose and begged for release from within Richard,
from within Roku.
Wales, I know what will happen after this battle. I - Richard/Roku started slowly and
definitively but the man, Prince Wales, cut him off.
Do you? Because you are getting mighty close to what you want. If only our old master
was So easily defeated Why dont you paint me a picture, Roku? Will your battle rage across
the battle field, across the country, across the world even!? Will people still be able to go back to
their old lives, their old homes if left standing. What will happen to people like us, trouble
makers, masters of magic, how will people be protected from them again?
I know what I am doing, Wales. Roku pounded on a table in the war room the two
alone occupied. I am trying my best!
Your best? This what your best be like? Being cooped up, alone?
It is no matter! I Will win! Roku yelled. His/Richards fist punching the table again to
drive back a darker force wanting to be released. I cant let it, not now Richard tried
struggling against the dream to no avail.
How can you be so sure!? Wales yelled back angered, then quickly calmed down. I
apologize. I am only worried for you, my friend. Roku was angry himself, but in a loud sigh he
let it fade. Richard felt his worry cease with that sigh.
I worry for all of us, Monica, Celia, you I just with that I could have a chance to hang
up my sword. Roku said quietly and leaned heavily on the table. Roku looked to Dark Star
hanging on his waist.
But until then, we will keep their killing edges sharp, brother. Wales smiled and patted
Rokus shoulder. We were made from our old master to be tyrants to this world we would
create, he would create Wales began, and Richard felt Roku feel guilty about something. But
we will give our lives to prove him wrong. Because death is nothing compared to vindication,
Roku! Wales smiled and looked out as if into space, as if through a stone ceiling and into the
stars beyond, while Roku hung his head. Richard was confused about this. Was this after he
started progress for his own immortality?
We are the last ones standing in a world battered to its knees. Roku said, and Richard
felt a weird mix of honor bound duty to something he didnt know. The last blades forged in the
defiance of Fate by Fate itself.
We will be the last hearthstone resting firm against this tidal wave of corruption Master
Rydo created. This be our Legacy, brother. Wales clapped Rokus back, clapped Richards back.
Into the fires of battle and unto the anvils of war, We the Dauntless Few
Men keep secrets for good reasons Said a quiet voice from in Richards mind. The
scene before him evaporating into the haziness you cant really focus on or it goes away. I did
have a chance to hang up my sword but I used it again on Eden. Richard was confused and
tried to search for the source of this voice, but trying to mentally look through your own mind
was like trying to lick you own elbow, it doesnt come easy. I went conquering for a time as age
set fast against me. No one is ready to die
Its like the great old stories isnt it, hmm? Richard recognized this voice as Rokus but
it was haggard and quiet. Unlike his usual decisive and forceful way of speaking. The the
ones filled with danger, darkness, and fear. He spoke as if trying to convey another message, his
words raising and lowering in pitch at just the moments to give it an impression of mystery. The
stories you read to cheer yourself up but when in real life, in your life you wonder what
happens after the story. I wondered the same thing.
Who are you? Richard strangely found his own voice.
I am that is I I was Roku at one time. But I left that behind.
So I literally have the Great General in my head? Richard thought/said to Roku
Damnit, Ive seen enough movies to see where this is going.
No matter on that, I am you are you are me. I achieved immortality in you.
How?
Legacy of course. I dont think I can suddenly pop up and take control of the body our
minds, mind, resides in. I hate to say it Richard, but you are on your own. Because you are you
and I am me
Wait, Roku, what?
I am Richard now. Do not call me someone I am not. Many seem to do that. One being
dear Monica Richard got a vision of himself/Roku hanging upside down from a tree branch
with May, her hair becoming golden in the sunlight, they were laughing. He felt an almost
physical pang of guilt.
What do you mean by legacy?
Well thats just it. Roku, or whatever this abstract thought itself was, answered almost
immediately. I have become immortal in peoples hearts and minds through you. You are the
descendant of the Eternal Master Roku, the other part of Richards mind seemed to say that with
scorn. I have become immortal in story, what a cheap way to do it.
There has to be something wrong wait, what is Eden? Richard suddenly remembered
something his other mind had said.
It is the name for Earth, used by pretty much everyone not from there. Oh there is so
much to see out there, me. Worlds with their own histories and futures
I I am confused Ro- er, me. Richard was having trouble following. No answer.
I was not a friend to my friends Roku/Richard said after a long moment of eerie quiet.
In their minds, I was someone to pity, someone to make them feel special. The fact that I had to
rely solely on my mind in a fight boggled their own. But then I found my own power And
then, and only then, I was a friend to them. If Wales and Monica had gone off to study alone
without me, with that wretch Rydo; a few months would have gone by and my life, forgotten.
Celia is who loved and I loved back. And May didnt love me, never loved me. She saw the
competition of Celia and only wanted to be with me for that. Something more to pine after.
Absolute adoration to nigh heretical standards is nowhere near love, Richard. There was another
long pause at which Richard wanted to speak again, but held back.
If a life must be in a memory lived, why live in a bad one? So, Richard, why do you
continually try to be me?
How can I be speaki- Richard began, trying to make heads or tails of his current
situation, but his other mind interjected.
Always with the important questions, hmm? No small talk with your ancestor you?
Richard was confused by his, his, statement yet again. The was a sigh and the image of May
disappeared. After enough reincarnations the reincarnate-ee becomes aware of its
impending death and rebirth. Because thats just the thing, not many spirits or people become
aware of the cycle of eternal return. But I did, slowly, surely. I could hardly help it, the same
thing happening over and over again. Every life I lived would trickle out into nothing and die.
Gets monotonous after a time, of course.
Were you, uh I, conscious enough to speak to my father like this? Richard asked, he
was even surprised he had thought about him.
You father was a coward and a ninny. Do not waste any time thinking about that
bastard. Anger.
But if I am you and you me and all that, then am I not my father? Richard asked,
horrified by this thought. He would never abandon his child no matter the circumstances.
You catch on quick. You, I, we have traveled along many lifelines.
And now you are getting into the philosophical.
Shut up and listen. We are murders and thieves, we are the charitable and the givers. We
healed as much as we hurt. We hated as much as we loved. We were loving mothers many times,
and we were neglecting fathers as well and vice versa. Am I, are we, good men or women in
that effect? If we have the capability to do bad and he have done so, but we also have and do
good, should we cease to be in the effect that our bad might be too bad.
You keep confusing me. Richard said, more images popped up in his vision. Rokus
life. Friends and enemies swam by without a second thought to them.
Did you ever wonder how and alien to Eden, Earth, could sire children on the planet he
was not native of? Richard could almost see the other part of his brain smiling with the sudden
change in topic. Go on, say no.
Well, not really not a lot.
I might tell you one day or I might fade back into the waters of death and rebirth.
Why not now? There was no answer for some time. This year has to be the worst year
of my, our whateverthefuckitis, life. Worst year ever
Pretty sure that 1665 was pretty bad you know, because everyone died from the
plague. But whatever. Replied the other, heavy with snark. Or the Third great war on this
planet. This being the Fourth now.
Get out of my head I need to wake up. Richard said trying to force his consciousness
into limbs he could not find. He would have to send a search party or something.
No, you need to rest. Or die die or rest. Choose one. I dare you to choose the wrong
one Richard struggled, it was no use in a world he was never used to. Because every time you
use your nigh god powers, you hurt your physical coil, uh dare I say.
Is Earth or, what was it Eden? Is Eden the birth place of humanity and we spread
across the stars? Richard tried to distract his own mind to make it easier.
So far, every religion on Eden is 90% wrong.
That doesnt answer my question, but why?
Because I may or may not have had a hand in creating them, religions I would not
mind now if you chose death, come on!
Youre sounding like me almost. Richard noticed. He was actually surprised. As the
conversation went on, Roku or whoever was being less that, and more speaking like a high
schooler.
I might have done some nice and or bad things in the name of a higher power in my little
time afforded in my life. I wanted to be remembered somehow. And I suppose as time went on,
different cultures swallowed it up and put it at different times. Not my fault. I wanted to be
remembered, to leave a legacy of some kind so when I came back ah, you know the rest I
suppose.
But you did have a child.
Yes, you, and you and you and you all the way down the line to You. There was a
pause as Richard was expecting more crypticism from Roku, but none came like he was
expecting. Someone is watching us. I daresay dont
-----
May backed away from Richard as his unconscious body went into on mode. Adrenaline
was only one of the many chemicals at his brains disposal to shoot his muscles into movement.
He arched his back painfully and hissed out a blast of air from his lungs and his heart demanded
more oxygen. Then a painful wrack of his muscles sent him leaning forward as energy welled up
in him. He took one look at May then jumped out of bed, sprinting for the door.
So great was Mays surprise that she didnt even have time to speak as Richard blasted
the door from its leather hinges with a swipe of his hand and a flash of light. A hop and a skip,
and he was through the door leading to the outside. It was a cloudy day, but as soon as Richard
hit the sun light, he fell flat on his face on the wet grass. Starting everyone near him and causing
a ruckus. Daiya and Aura were close by, the former walking slow on sore legs made it so she
didnt get far from the building given to the two from Jeld Wellis, came running as Richard
struggled to get up.
That woman tried to have her way with me! Richard cried out and pointed back at May,
who just showed up in the doorway. Daiya and Aura glared at May. Richard squinted at the two
women. Eh? Who are you?
A shock went through both womens bodies and minds at Richards words and Daiya fell
back on her rump. 3 women stared wide eyed at a delirious looking Richard as he sat on his own
butt. A second went by then Richard laughed and held up his hands.
I kid, I kid. Nothing happened, Daiya. Im joking, gosh, dont look so serious. Richard
barely got the word out before exploding into laughter. The small gathering of people began to
disperse at the release of tension. A second went by, then Daiya attacked Richard with a deadly
fervor. Only by the grace of May was Richard saved that day.
May ran up and flying tackled Daiya to the side yelling things like calm down and act
princess like. Richard wanted to laugh, but wisely decided against death. Aura stood and rubbed
her forehead.
Richard She began.
I love you too. Richard smiled. He tried to stand, but passed out again.
-----
Richard chowed down loudly on his breakfast, to everyone, their dinner. He felt it high time to
get some food in his body before it decided to shut down. But what he didnt like about this
whole affair, was having to wait half of an hour for people to congratulate him on the match the
previous night. And then another half hour to make his way up to Castle Islan in the sky, most of
that time spent trying to bat away Lokis attempts at a draconic version of a kiss. Richard wanted
Daiya to be eating next to him, but was left with his other friends instead; making that one joke
about forgetfulness went maybe a little too far. Lisbeth, Lythia, Karo, Aura, May and a few of the
other inhabitants of the castle sat at the dining room table with him.
Not as good as McDonalds, but, mmm hmm! Richard said as he chowed down on
something that resembled chicken nuggets but not deep fried or battered.
Whos McDonald? Zya asked in between bites from her own plate.
Oh he was an old farmer by the village where I used to live. Richard said, trying to
find the words. Everyone who knew of his actual past rolled their eyes at him. Oh, if only they
knew the joke he just made. He even hummed the song quietly.
Do you remember anything from dreaming this time? May asked, referring to the other
time Richard had passed and saw visions. May was dressed a weird way, but thought nothing of
it as he tried to search his brain.
Nah, Richard said past a mouth full of small potato like things, he thought he
remembered someone saying that they grow on trees. Like a few pictures here or there, but not
really anything. May stared at Richard hard, unnerving him, but she found no sign of a lie. Im
going to go and apologize to Daiya. Richard uneasily said, his appetite lost at the silent
inquisition, and May continued to stare as if to crack open his skull with her eyes alone.
That might be for the best, son. Aura smiled sweetly at him. She was the only one here
eating nicely, as everyone else chowed down on the delicious food provided by the castle.
Richard left the dining room and walked quietly along the halls. He became aware of the slight
scuffling his bare feet made on the stone and tried to imitate how Daiya walked. Toe, heel, toe,
heel, aching calves already. After a short journey, Richard found his wife standing at a large
stained glass window depicting some hero of old, no doubt. The other elemental masters chided
him for not knowing every single one of the people time and time again. By the way Daiya held
her posture, Richard knew she had noticed his arrival. The magical lights in metal sconces gave
him no shadows, so her hearing must be even better than he had thought. She stayed turned away
as Richard came up behind and wrapped his arms around her front. Daiya stayed hard as a rock,
and Rickard started to hum Old McDonald and slowly sway. Not the most romantic, Richard
thought, but it was a happy sounding tune. Slowly but surely, his wife softened and pressed her
back against his chest.
Were winning, Daiya. Were winning. Richard said and flexed his arms to draw her
closer in.
But is not our omnipresent enemy a necromancer? Daiya whispered softly and swayed
with Richard now.
Meh, Ive seen enough George Romero and M. Night Shyamalan movies to figure a
plan out. We got this, darling. Daiya did not understand what Richard was talking about, but
was reassured at his words. And I apologize for making that joke about-
It is all right, Richard. Daiya interrupted him and turned around in his arms to hug him
back. I was just caught off guard. Nothing like that has ever happened to me.
Shall I Richard took a step back and bowed slightly. Make it up to you, mLady?
Richard smiled. And it was one of his special smiles. A smile that told everyone who looked at
him that what he thought was right, Was right, and no one could do or say otherwise. Daiya
chuckled and let Richard lead her down the halls to his room.
Dont you want to meet up with your friends or something? Daiya asked Richard when
they reached his bedroom door.
Seems I already have and do you really want me to stop this? Richard smiled again
and bobbed his eyebrows up and down.
What has gotten into you? Daiya laughed. As Richard pushed open the door and spun
her inside.
The sweet taste of victory. Richard said heroically. Daiya looked at him confused, but
smiling. Richard had a thought to try and find a way back to Earth so he could have a movie
montage with his wife. Another day, perhaps
-----
A tall, brown haired man stepped out of a corner of the hall, hidden there magically. He
walked straight backed slowly and silently much so that not even a mouse would know of his
passing. He was dressed similarly to how May was now, but in different colored cloth. He looked
to the just recently closed door and had a long thought. Then he whispered something to
himself
The time for Reclaimation has come, dear brother The man slowly but definitively
walked back down the hall, the magical lights on the walls becoming just a little brighter at his
passing. I hope the Child of the Sky is ready. For the Children of the Blood and of the Profane
have been waiting oh so long, dearest brother. We the Dauntless Few
The man got to the end of the hall and started to hum a little tune to himself, loud enough
to be heard humming, but quiet enough to not be understood. The brown-haired man passed a
few people as he hummed, but none payed any attention.
4 Siblings went out to find themselves some glory: The Child of the Sky, the Blood, the
World, and the Profane.
One went off and lost himself, and quite forgot his name.
One went off and had a tumble, and wasnt quite the same.
One went off and cried out in agony.
One stayed behind and asked, What happened to my family?
