Conductive Shielding Paint Kit for Guitars

Thank you, for the purchase of the Conductive Shielding Paint Kit for Guitars
For those about to Rock - Lets get quiet!
Steps to quieting your Strat Guitar
This takes 3 days to complete.
1. Clean inside control pocket of grease and use sand paper to rough it up a bit.
2. Apply first thin coat of conductive shielding paint (Use the supplied hobby brush to apply) to the rim
and bottom of control cavity only, and then let dry 24hrs. Don't do third step until 24hrs. Note: (Please stir
shielding paint before each application process).
3. Cut a copper-shielding strip (Use the supplied peel and stick copper tape) and place part of 3/4" in the
cavity rim and the remaining part should lead to the pickguard screw hole (The screw thats just below the
3 or 5 way switch screw) and trim accordingly.
4. Apply second thin coat of shielding paint to only the copper tape in the rim, rim and bottom of control
cavity - and let dry 24hrs. (If you want to have a 1/8 boarder around the control pocket for better contact
with foil backing on pickguard, carefully mask off the pocket, and brush on paint. Be careful not to get
paint on the exposed surface outside of pickguard. Note: This step is not necessary as the peel and stick
copper tape should give you effective continuity screening.
5. Apply third thin coat of shielding paint to only the copper tape in the rim, rim and bottom of control
cavity- and let dry 24hrs.
6. When installing the pickguard you should be able to screw into the copper tape for excellent down
pressure for continuity (The foil backing of pickguard and the copper tape need to touch).
7. Carefully put it all back together and give it a try.
Be careful not to have a "hot lead" touch any of the shielding paint, copper tape as this will
cause a short circuit. Do not shield paint back of pickguard.
If you want to shield paint the rest of the pickup cavities, jack hole and or wire channels
(I suggest that this is overkill!) I would test the first steps to see if any further shielding is necessary to
start with. (Note: Modern pickups already have wax shielding, as do the wires). So its really unnecessary
to paint the pickup cavities. Less is more!
