Activity 4: Human Torso Model Exercise

Complete this exercise using the torso models in the lab (if in a DL course you can use Figure 1.12
in your textbook or the image in the Powerpoint on Bb showing the 9 abdominopelvic regions). You
may use the lab manual, textbook, & model notebooks to help you with determining organ locations.
Only include organs/structures that apply to the category. You dont have to use every word.
Organ List:
Aorta
Brain
Bronchi
Diaphragm
Esophagus

Heart
Kidneys
Large intestines
Rectum
Small intestines

Liver
Lungs
Stomach
Spinal cord
Trachea

Ureters
Bladder
Tongue
Pubic bone
Umbilicus

Put each organ from the Organ List into the correct body cavity
Dorsal Body Cavity
Cranial Cavity
Vertebral Cavity
Ventral Cavity
Thoracic Cavity
Pleural Cavities
Mediastinum
Pericardial Cavity (within mediastinum)
Abdominopelvic Cavity
Umbilical region
Epigastric region
Upper left quadrant
Lower right quadrant
Left iliac region
Left lumbar region

Activity 5: Application of Terms Gunshot Wounds

I will put three hypothetical gunshot wounds on a human torso model in the lab (a picture will be
available on Blackboard and you can photograph in class; DL section use the image provided in
Lab01_Images for Activities). You are to assume you are working for OMI (Office of the Medical
Investigator) and need to accurately describe the location of the wounds. For each bullet wound
state: anatomical region and/or body cavity, describe the location using a minimum of three
directional terms, and list any organs that may lie in the path of the bullets trajectory.

Activity 6: Organ Systems & their Organs

Using a human torso model, find the organs in the list below. As you work through the list use the
provided table and put the organs into the organ system to which in belongs.

Lungs
Urinary bladder
Intestines
Blood vessels
Tongue
