SATVIDHYA IS ABOUT TRUTH EDUCATION.

Truth is not science and technology which belong to the human
mind and intellect.
Truth is soul wisdom that belongs to the transmind field,
knowing which you know everything.
Satvidhya is the wisdom revealed by the Siddhas and yogis of India.
I pray to the Divine to bless the project and the staff working on it.
Dr. Baskaran Pillai

NAVRATRI GREETINGS FROM SATVIDHYA EDITORIAL TEAM:

Goddesses share the nights of Navratri. The first three nights are dedicated to Durga,
the next three nights to Lakshmi and the last three nights to Saraswati. The 4th day and
the last two nights of Navratri belong to Goddess Lakshmi. Lakshmi is very important
Goddess. More people know about her than any other Goddess, because Lakshmi is the
Goddess of wealth.
Goddess Saraswati is most widely known as the benevolent Goddess of education.
She descends on the earth on the last 3 nights of Navratri to destroy the demon of
ignorance. Saraswati is the most important Goddess, because she is the Goddess of
consciousness. Saraswati was one of the first Goddesses to be mentioned in ancient
Indian texts. She blesses you with knowledge and wisdom. Her energy is essential for
discrimination and attaining perfection in arts and sciences. Saraswati is the Goddess of
wisdom, learning, intelligence, skill and creative arts. She is also known as Goddess of
speech or Vag Devi, the Goddess of Divine Sounds. Connect with Saraswati during
Navratri and she will restructure your mind and give you divine intelligence!

WHAT IS STUDENT ASTROLOGY

Student Astrology is all about identifying, understanding
and establishing the effects created by the nine planets in the
academic performance of any individual,
more significantly for the students.
The case study approach & its insufficiency

position of each of the planets and the occupants

in each of the Houses in each birth chart.

Many Vedic astrology exponents have

researched on this subject and have published
books with case studies, probably, by analyzing,
may be a maximum of 20 to 25 charts of people
who have become toppers in school, college or
even competitive exams. They also include
charts of those who have failed in their school
or college examinations.

Depending upon the planets positioned

in the Houses, each House and each Planet
was assigned a numerical value, based on a
formula.

In the case study analysis, they basically

check for certain specific combinations as given
in the classical astrology texts, which have been
pronounced as combinations for good results
in studies or otherwise. If these combinations
are found in the chart of the cases, the case is
proved.

The formula was arrived at, by taking

inputs from the classical Vedic astrology texts
and also consulting with the eminent Vedic
scholars of the AstroVed Advisory Board.

These types of literatures are available in the

market in plenty. Though these cannot be
dismissed as invalid, case studies of 20 or 25
people are highly insufficient to prove or
disprove a point.
AstroVeds research approach
Under the guidance of Dr.Pillai, Student
Astrology research done at AstroVed took a
different approach, which is more in congruence
with the standard scientific methodology of
analysis.
The primary data (Date of birth, Time
of birth and Place of birth) and the secondary
data (personal details including fathers name,
name of school, location, class, grades scored
in exams etc.) of 2614 respondents, from
various schools in Tamil Nadu was collected to
create a database.

A computer program was created,

which with the primary data inputs, will
generate the birth chart for each of the 2614
respondents, and will store in the database.
The data thus generated contained the
Ascendant, the Moon Sign, the birth star, the
SATVIDHYA

This numerical value gave a

quantifiable measure for strength /
deficiency for each House and each of the
Planets, in each of the 2614 birth charts.

This data was subjected to analysis

taking many parameters into consideration.
The observations were recorded that led to
clear inferences and conclusions.
The uniqueness of AstroVeds Research
It is the first time that a subject like
Academic performance is being analyzed from
astrological point of view.
Most researchers take a few birth charts and
tend to justify the astrological rules. In our
research method, we did not apply or employ
any astrological rule as such.
Instead, the data was let to speak for itself
and the resultant observations were found
congruent with the rules given in the classical
texts of Vedic Astrology, thus proving
The correctness of the research
methodology
The validity of Vedic Astrology as
science

The Inferences of AstroVeds Student

Astrology research
1. Mercury & Jupiter
These two planets indicate higher academic
inclination in general and specifically better scores

in Math and Science. The extent of the favourable

benefits rendered by these planets is simply
proportional to their individual as well as collective
strengths in the birth chart.
Thus a strong Jupiter increases the overall
performance, especially for those students where
the prospects of education is poor. In most cases,
it was also found that both Jupiter and Mercury
complement each other by balancing one
anothers lack of strength in the case of high score
segment. This tendency is observed for overall
academic scores irrespective of any specific
subject.
2.

Sun & Moon

The supportive pattern of a favorable Sun and/

or Moon is more visible in case of High performers
in Science when compared with the high
performers in Mathematics.
3.

The Ascendant Lord

A strong Ascendant and Ascendant Lord is one

of the important factors required for good
academic performance. Though Ascendant is not
related to specific subjects, it boosts the overall
performance.
4.

Planets favouring Math

Research proved that a strong Mercury is one

prime factor for Math. Though a well-placed

Jupiter is supportive for Math, the high scores in

Math could be attributed mainly to Mercury.
Even in the High scoring band, a weak Mercury
is seen to bring a reduction in the Math scores;
another proof that Mercury influences Math and
math scores.
5.

Planets favouring Science

It is basically observed that those students who

had secured good science scores also had a good
Math scores. Those who were both with better
support from Jupiter, Mercury and Ketu have the
tendency for better science scores and also higher
aggregate. If Jupiter was of higher strength
comparatively, then the tendency was towards
science. If Mercury had higher strength, then the
students were more inclined towards math. In such
cases, their own individual Math score was higher
than that of their Science score.
In general, Ascendant and Moon Sign are the
pointers for Emotional Quotient (EQ), the 4th
House, Jupiter & Mercury showcase the
Intelligence Quotient (IQ), as per Vedic
astrological rules.
The research also converges to the same
conclusion that the 4H, Mercury and Jupiter are
the primary and vital essential factors that need
to be adequately strong and well placed for
academic excellence.

WHY IS MY CHILD DISINTERESTED IN ACADEMICS?

Does your child want to play all the time or watch TV non-stop? Is he slow in writing? Does his
teacher complain that he is always the last person to finish in the class? If he is active and naughty,
then the number of complaints will be more, since he will also be disturbing and distracting his fellow
classmates. But is he responsible for this behavior of his?
Probable Causes
When the child does not meet the minimum
standards set by the school or parents with
regard to academics, we term that attitude as
disinterest in studies. This is a very generic
remark to make. Firstly, it should be checked if
the child dislikes studies in general. It might be
that he is finding it uninteresting due to poor
teaching, inability to cope with the tests or
evaluation mechanisms, distractions etc. The
child might be disinterested in a particular
subject, say, Mathematics or languages or he
just does not like writing, but enjoys reading.
Though all of these symptoms are referred
collectively by the same generic name disinterest in academics, they definitely differ
from one another. The solutions they demand
are also different.
Some children need continuous attention and
follow-up from the parents side on their studies
regarding the completion of their home-work
or class work. Some might even require to be
reminded to start studies, and if not done, might
continuously postpone. A little probing gives
the clue.

Practical reasons
The learning process is not interesting or
captivating enough to hold the attention of the
child. It could be the syllabus, it could be the
curriculum; it could even be insufficient practical
exercises and illustrations. It could even be lack
of hands-on sessions and hence the child is
unable to relate the concepts learnt in the
practical scenario. Sometimes, the reason could
be the projects that are beyond the capacity of
the students. The net effect is that the child tries
to avoid the activity.
This leads to the next evil - compulsion to
study. And then, the Newtons third law
happens. There is an equal and opposite reaction
- compulsion creates repulsion.
Children are compelled to study, instead of
being made to understand how enjoyable the
act of studying is. Compulsion makes them hate
the subjects, teachers, environment and all
activities related to school, except for friends.
The hate psychology grows up faster especially
when the child gets into the company of likeminded peers. The child gets labeled as a

problem child. Every parent experiencing the

condition would have also tried all known
techniques and would have got some results too.
But what is the real cause of this issue? Is
more help available? Could there be a solution
that will alleviate the problem permanently?
Let us take a closer look at the issues, to
identify the real internal causes.
Astrological reasons
Weak Mercury, afflicted Jupiter, badly
positioned Mars, Moon with malefic
associations or placed in weak and unsupportive
signs are some typical situations which makes
the child uninterested in academics.
Logical understanding of the correlation
between the practical and astrological
reasons
Moon rules over the emotional intelligence,
which is the root level intelligence. Moon
indicates the conditioned mind that makes a
person experience the subjective reality, based
on the thought pattern and the psychological
make-up of the person.
Mercury signifies the rational intellect of the
mind, which is polished and nurtured through
formal education. In general, moon rules over
both thoughts and feelings.
According to Vedic Mythology, Moon is
Mercurys father. That is, Mercury the intellect
is born from the Moon. Thus Mercury, the
rational mind can be said to ideally perceive the
objective reality.
Now, when children are compelled to study,
especially a subject matter that is uninteresting

or beyond their capacity, they become either

submissive and yield to the compulsion due to
fear or they may give no attention at all.
Whatever is the response of the child, it is taken
based on the mental attitude of the child, and it
is evident that the emotional elements are at
play, clearly indicating the big role played by
Moon as the influencer.
Short span corrective actions are short term
solutions that save the situations temporarily.
It is practically not possible for you as parents
to continuously monitor and motivate the child.
Down the line the child should be able to
manage himself/herself by self-created interest.
Moreover all the talking, counseling and
motivating are to tune the mind.
2. Permanent corrective actions
The planets influence the human mind
and actions in highly powerful manner since
their vibrations are deeply implanted in the
human psyche.
Only a few children understand the true
significance of the activity even at a young age.
They might have a better logical mind and a
practical sensibility, that help them reason out
for themselves why they should study. Clarity
of mind as contributed by a supportive Moon
and reasoning power by strong Mercury will
be evident in their charts. With a strong Mars,
they will also be willing to act.
Therefore the preventive corrective
actions are the right type of remedies to the
respective planets, in whose continuous
radiations and influence all terrestrial beings
thrive.

HOPE LEARNING CENTER CHILDREN

CONFIDENT FUTURE LEADERS

Despite family backgrounds of poverty,

cycles of abuse and circumstances that seem
hopeless, children of HoPE Learning Center
excel at academics and thrive in personal
development. It is possible due to nurturing
environments, nutritious daily snacks,
traditional lessons, and innovative educational
programmes like Phonemic Intelligence (PI) and
The Personal Transformation Programme
(PTP).
PI uses sounds to shift childrens brains
toward success and abundance. It creates
balanced brain function through vocalized
sounds with a series of hand gestures and visual
thinking. This practice harmonizes functions of
the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This
is very similar to

related to careers.
On a recent career
day at one Center,
children dressed up
in costumes and
spoke about what
they would like to be
when they grow up. It was indeed inspiring to
hear from the aspiring future doctors, teachers,
engineers, etc. Interestingly, little Madhura had

why she chose to dress like this, she replied that
she wants to destroy all the evil in the world
and make women brave. rs, engineers, etc.

HoPE Center students overcome
tremendous challenges. Mayur, a 7th-grade boy
from Goa, belongs to a very poor family. His
father remains unemployed and is an alcoholic.
His mother does seasonal labour for very low
wages. Some older village boys used to send
Mayur to buy alcohol and tobacco. Two
forcefully made him drink until he became
addicted to alcohol. After attending PTP lessons

at a HoPE Learning
Center,
he
approached
the
teacher and told her
about the problem he
was facing. The
teacher guided him back into sobriety. Not only
he has given up drinking; but also excels in
academics and activities.
A few students have also
chosen to help teach other
children how to live and
thrive. Arunitha is one of
eight children in a family
struggling to meet the basic
needs of food and clothing.
Her eldest sister committed
suicide because her father
was not able to pay a dowry prior to her
wedding. Her parents wanted their children to
go to work. When Arunitha heard about the
Sakkudi HoPE Learning Center, she convinced
her parents to let her continue her schooling.
Thanks to PI, she is now full of courage to face
the world. The practice of yoga and a healthy

daily snack (boiled chickpeas, dates and fruits)

provides her necessary physical strength. She
feels her horizon has expanded with spoken
English, access to good books and a computer,
along with training in various fine arts like
singing, dancing and drawing. Her grades
improved dramatically from as low as 50% to
as high as 98%. Unfortunately, most of her
village peers do not have the same opportunities
to move forward. Yet, it was
recently reported that she
has been spending time
teaching many working
children what she learns at
the HoPE Center.

AN EVOLUTIONARY EDUCATIONAL MODEL

This isnt your ordinary pit

technologies ever developed.
Thats because the

responsible for this sharing of
spiritual and scientific wealth
cant be categorized as an
ordinary Guru, Scientist, or
Scholar. He is a Renegade on
a mission that is so passion
driven he doesnt mind
respectfully breaking a few
rules to bring miracle stories
out of the sacred texts and into
our human lives.
While many spiritual
teachers share their wisdom
through traditional methods of
seva, lecture, and silence, Dr.
Pillai has opted for a result
oriented educational structure
that anyone can access through
the Pillai Center.
The Pillai Center was
founded on the principle that
everyone is indeed a Creator.
Armed with the right tools and
commitment, anything is
possible for those that dare to
break the mould and model a
more successful way of life.
The Heart of the Matter
Aimed at balancing the
lopsided vision presented to us
for centuries, Dr. Pillai
SATVIDHYA

declares that we all can and

should live a 200% life.
Whats a 200% Life? Its
really quite simple..
100%
Material
Prosperity + 100% Spiritual
Prosperity = 200% Blissful
Living
Traditional philosophies
present a dichotomy between
the material world and our
spiritual experience. But does
it really need to be that
difficult? Dont they both
contribute equally to the joy
experienced during our human
existence?
Many who find themselves
called to Dr. Pillais teachings
arent interested in sacrificing
themselves to just one or the
other of these essential
elements of our experience.
Sowing the Seeds of
Happiness
Of course, Dr. Pillai has a
few ground rules for sowing
your seeds of happiness.
1. Out With the Old before
In With the New
While Pillai Centers
educational
framework
empowers us to be the Master
Creator of our own
experience, we have to clean
the slate before our canvas has
enough space to paint a new
masterpiece.
Otherwise known as karma
removal, Dr. Pillai grooms

students to understand,
identify, and manipulate karma
as the prerequisite to
manifesting success.
2. Master Your
Manifestor 101
Ultimately, we are all
responsible for what we
create. The techniques, tools
and channels shared by Dr.
Pillai are all aimed at
developing the Divine spark
that already exists in each one
of us.
An essential part of each
teaching is how to stop
manifesting our fears, worries
and anxieties and how to start
manifesting what we innately
know is possible.
3. Be Practical About
Your Needs
Dr. Pillai often says,
Philosophy bakes no bread.
The teachings shared through
Pillai Center are designed to
address everyday real world
experiences. Moksha at the
end of our human experience
is Divine, but what about the
70+ years until then?
We all long for good health,
wealth, relationships, finances,
careers and overall fulfillment.
Beyond the philosophy of
blissful living, these tools are
practical and simple enough
for anyone to use who has an
immediate
need
for
improvement in any area of
life.

Presently living in California, Parvati Chantel

is mother of three young children and has been
happily married to Marrio for almost 12 years.
She has been a student of Dr. Pillai for over
five years, participating in programmes,
destination trips and transformational
teachings of all kinds. Throughout her history
with Dr. Pillais teachings, she and her family
have experienced a great number of miracles,
the most notable of which involved the cure of
a rare skin condition suffered by her youngest
son. She currently serves as the Content
Manager with its fulfilling and purposeful
work.

4. Discover the Sounds

of Synergy
Deeply rooted in both
scientific and spiritual study,
Dr. Pillai is able to bring the
two together for a complete
understanding of our complex
experience. Broken down into
a digestible framework, sound
is the base component of
everything we need to know.
In its rawest form, sound is
the link that can bring our body
and mind into synchronized
harmony to sing a song of
miracles.
5. Ask and It Shall be
Given
Dont be afraid to ask for
help. In fact, according to Dr.
Pillai, you must ask for help to
remove blockages that may
have been building up for a life
time.

Through continuing medical research we

wanted to find answers to lots of fundamental
questions pertaining to etiology, pathogenesis,
therapeutics, prognosis and susceptibility to
various medical conditions .We still do not have
complete knowledge for various medical
conditions. While we continue to find answers
to these questions with our modern research
capabilities, let us explore what earlier system
of medicine has to offer.
Ayurveda and Siddha system of medicine are
amongst the earliest system of medicine. The
principles of Ayurveda and Siddha systems of
medicine are systematically well documented.
This system of medicine originated more than
5000 years ago and is time tested. Astrology is
a fundamental component of Ayurveda and
Siddha system of medicine, similar to how
anatomy, physiology and biochemistry are
fundamental components of modern medicine.
The trend of most of the researchers in
modern Medicine is to shun at the outset, as
unproductive, even though they dont have any
in-depth knowledge and understanding about
the principles of Ayurveda and Siddha System
of medicine. Nor have they subjected to
systematic, scientific validation of its principles
before they could conclude that it is worth less.
This attitude is visible more so when it comes
to Astrology. The only way to explain this is
lack of adequate knowledge on the part of the
individual who shuns it at the outset. The
Supreme Court of India has categorically
declared, Astrology as a course of scientific
study in Indian Universities and University
Grants Commission (UGC) grants funds for the

It is fundamental for any scholarly scientific

research that the hypothesis are approached
with an open mind and viewed in an unbiased
stand. If the scientific research validates the
specific principles and hypothesis of Ayurveda
& Siddha medicine and astrology, it has to be
accepted. On the other hand, if the scientific
research invalidates the specific principles and
the hypothesis, it has to be rejected as
scientifically unproved. Such an approach gives
us an opportunity to study the unexplored
treasures of ancient system of medicine in a
systematic and scientific fashion.
In todays modern world, it is imperative to
scientifically validate the time tested principles
of Ayurveda and Siddha system of medicine. In
this venture, it is essential that experts from
Modern Medicine, Ayurveda & Siddha
medicine, as well as, Astrology work together
to have an acceptable and meaningful outcome
and to benefit mankind with the research
findings.

self esteem. He also has another
problem and that is approvalseeking.
You are not a pet animal. It
needs to be patted all the time,
in order to keep the animal
cheerful .throughout. You know
you are good and the world is a
maya or illusion. You have to do a good job. You do it to the best of your knowledge and ability!
The second one is approval-seeking.
Why do you have some one to approve you? You do your best and leave the rest. Approvalseeking is a very bad expectation. Then you wont be happy at all. That does not mean you close
your eyes and say that what I do is the best and my way is the highway. Listen to the boss as to what
he has to say. Do not get frustrated by it. But keep in mind two things: Your low self-esteem and
your approval-seeking behaviour. You will then be able to change.
