At the end of this activity, you will be competent in appraising the effectiveness of
display boards as learning resources.

Your Map
Display boards, or what we more commonly refer to as bulletin board, is one of
the most readily available and versatile learning resources.
To reach your target, follow these steps:

Read the following statements carefully before you observe.
Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board displays
do you see?
Where is the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can
see them?

What are the displays about? What images and colors do you see? How are the
pieces of information arranged?
What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the
like)
Are the messages clear and easily understood?
You may choose to take a photo of the display board (if allowed)

From among the board displays that you saw, pick the one that you got most

Very attractive, durable and useful in any kind of topic. Well balanced and interactive but
need to have more activities. It needs to become more legible.

Your Analysis
Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target
audience? Why? or Why not?

Yes because it is colourful and it make students curious to what the bulletin all about. So,
of course for all the students who are in Grade 7 are not really smart enough and not all
of them have wisdom about the bulletin. Then they should come to the bulletin and see
the things around the bulletin.

Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to
understand? Why? or Why not?

Yes the language are clear exclusively to the Grade 7 students especially the word used
simple for this bulletin. The target audiences are the students of Grade 7 section
Hawthorn so that the person who make bulletin must consider the audience and what the
impact to them.

What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it
effective? Why? or Why not?

I think the purpose of the board display is to encourage the students to read all brief
information in the subject. Also to make the students alert on what the topic they need to
learn more. And of course it is effective to those who caught an interest on the given
information of the board for they read the important things according to the subject.
Teachers do not need to repeat the announcement of exam or in anything for they knew
that they inform using the bulletin board.

What suggestions can you make?

Students are interested to the things which are new in there eyes so I suggested that may
be the teacher construct other things newly to them to caught the attention of ALL
students. May is means of technology or something new to them. Then of course the
teacher must consider her or his students whom an audience inside the classroom. The
bulletin board display needs to develop in terms of interactivity. May the teacher or even
he or she suggest to her students activity fit to them.

an interactive activities. To give the students a significance of learning. To
provide subject's announcement.

Best features of my purposed bulletin enhancement:

The topic itself, the learning procedure, the activities, the announcents and the
subjective question.

Your Reflections

Name at least 5 skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with
effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
Loving/ industrious- you need to love what you are doing so that it will have well
result. The person who was industrious well did his/her goal.
Patience - in making bulletin board, it takes a lot of time to make.
Intelligent/ genius - of course you are able to produce board display if you have an
idea how and what things you want to indorse.
Considerable - in making board display, you need to consider the people who can
see your board display so that it will be an effective to them.
Available - in doing things like this needs availability on his/her schedule.
Which of the skills do you already have? Recall your past experiences in
making board displays. How do you practice these skills?
Loving - the last time I make board display I felt so excited on what the result I
must did and I love so much doing on what I do. If not, of course it may fail into a
bad result.
Considerable - I always consider things based on my goals.
Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on
or acquire these skills.
Industrious - sometimes in doing this kind of project, my laziness attitude goes
out. I think it needs to develop.
Patience - it takes time so that my patient lost.
Intelligent/genius - sometimes I am in a blocked idea or thinking.
Available - it terms of availability, it's hard to me to suffer for there are things that
is more important to this.
