A report on GANESH FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS


Like every year, this year also the LAXMINARAYAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, NAGPUR celebrated the auspicious
th
st
festival of Lord Ganesha from 17 September 2015 to 21 September 2015, with full enthusiasm. From the reviews
of friends, teachers, judges and seniors and juniors, we are considering it to be a successful event. Here, we are
giving a brief description of the entire event via this report:

5 DAYS OF GFC:
This was all the planning and workings of the various committees formed. Now here is a brief
description of the events held in the 5 major days of GANESH FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS 2015...
CULTURAL EVENTS
DAY 1 (17thSeptember 2015)
It was the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi. The morning began with all sorts of last minute details of
decoration like rangolis, torans, and garlands. The DJ was set and all awaited the arrival of their beloved
Ganpati Bappa. Finally the Ganesha Idol was brought into the white hall amidst enthusiastic calls
praising the Lord. This was soon followed by the ceremonial sthapana of the idol into the majestic

Meghdambari. The sthapana of another smaller Ganesha idol was also done for the sake of
worshipping. Soon after, preparations for the puja and the Bhajan Sandhya began. The evening had a
traditional theme. The puja was performed by the Director of LIT, Dr. R. B. Mankar, Many students sang
various bhajans and hymns praising the Almighty.
DAY 2 (18thSeptember 2015)
CULT NIGHT-1
The next morning after the aarti, preparations for the evening began. The hall was cleaned once again. It
was set up to host the art exhibition. Sketches, paintings, poems and articles contributed by different
students of LIT were displayed. The evening was a celebration of the singing talent of the nightingales of
LIT. After that was the antakshari, an event for teachers and students.
DAY 3 (19thSeptember 2015)
CULT NIGHT-2
This evening was a gala of dances and drama. LITians danced and swirled to the popular chartbuster
beats presenting on stage both Indian and Western dance forms. The dramas also had wonderful
themes, were well scripted and had good actors.
DAY 4 (20thSeptember 2015)
CULT NIGHT-3
The evening was another fiesta flowing parallel to the night before. LITians once again set the stage on
fire with their mind-blowing performances. The evening began with a spectacular performance by the
college music Band that had formed during the course of Ganesh Festival Celebrations 2015.
Following the fun and frolic was the formal prize distribution ceremony wherein all the winners of the
various events such as sports, quizzes, contests and arts were awarded laurels.

DAY 5 (21st September 2015)


MAHAPRASAD
Following the morning aarti, preparations were begun for the mahaprasad that was a feast to all
members of the LIT family. The menu for the mahaprasad consisted of salad, moong dal pakoda,
chutney, mutter paneer, chapati, dal fry, jeera rice, gulab jamun and ice cream. The chapatis were
prepared as a collective effort by the LITian girls. The mahaprasad received a huge response and was
enjoyed and appreciated by all.
The mahaprasad was followed by the Ganpati Visarjan procession. Catering to the popular demands, the
arrangemant of a "sandal" was done. Enthusiastic students danced to the beats of the drums chanting
Bappa's name. The visarjan was finally done at Telangkhedi Lake.
Conclusion
Thus the fun filled days of GFC- GANESH FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS -2015 came to a satisfying end. The
organisation work was appreciated by students and teachers alike. The contests received an
overwhelming response from participants. The cultural nights and especially the Mahaprasad were
enjoyed by all.
For the students of Third year B-Tech, this was a very good learning experience.
