Q. NO.1: Discuss on the various types of training records and the
importance of keeping records.
ANSWER:
Training records are the permanent written informations gathered or
stored during achievements of competency, performance or
assessments. The following are types of training records; Log book,
this is a learners diary. In training, these forms are used to record in
systematic way about progress achievement and competencies. These
are printed documents normally with spaces in which to insert the facts
and answers. Achievement records, achievement record complies
successful completion measure against some kind of criteria and
accomplished often by hard work and considerable effort. It is used to
express concisely the evidence collected against form of written
statement that is used as an aid to assessment. It usually contains
details of skills demonstrated during activity or while performing work,
skills while producing a product, the content and circumstance relevant
than demonstration of competence and also contains the categories
and amount of evidence produced in support of claims for
accreditation. Competence profile, this is a way of reporting trainee
achievement and not assessment techniques. It can be used both in
formative and summative process. It consider the way in which report
is made about what trainee has complete in a certain module and how
it used in the accreditation process
Keeping records is very important for the following reasons;

Keeping record gives information about the learners progress


Records help in reviewing where learners are to be accredited or
awarded.
Record gives the way about achievement progress and
competence.
Carries amount of evidence produced in support of claim for
accreditation.
Record also is for further documents, evidence and memories.
Are for assessment purposes.
Ensure the regulatory requirements reached.
Used in evaluation of effectiveness of training.
Help an instructor to know the progress of his/her trainee.

Q. NO. 2: Explain the various assessment methods used in CBET


pointing out the strengths and weaknesses.
ANSWER:
Assessment methods are strategies, techniques, tools and instruments
for collecting information to determine the extent to which student
demonstrate desired learning outcomes .There are several methods
used to assess student learning outcomes.
1. Observation of performance, this is done while task is being
performed or is when a trainee is performing a given task. Observation
has several strengths. This is an easy method to determine all
trainees steps. During observation, a trainee shows a highly and
quality evidence of his/her competence. This is usually an instructors
duty or responsibility. It is a part of continuous assessment basis. Also
its evidence is used for assessment. Observation also has its
weaknesses. Time for demonstrating competence is limited. Some of
interferences may affect quality and time allocated for assessment.
Also assessor personal interest or relationship.
2. Assignment method, these are strategies, techniques, tools and
instruments for collecting information to determine the extent to which
student demonstrate desired learning outcomes. Strength; this is a
method that give a trainee a freedom. This method can enable trainee
to perform social activities simultaneously with assignment. Time
allocated during assignment can be enough for collection of some vital
information and references. Time also can be effective for making
some corrections and doing tests on what trainee had prepared. This
method also can be done in groups. Weaknesses; This method can
contribute into losing some of points if not performed on time.
Individual react differently in a test situation. This can also cost on
collecting some of references.
3. Written examination, this a method whereby assessment is done
by written questions. Strength; information for assessment in areas
where knowledge forms a key component of competent performance.
Areas of knowledge and understanding can be well structured.
Weaknesses; need a lot of time for assessors to review and mark

responses. The method need a qualified and skilled person for


responses judgment.
4. Oral questioning, this is when assessment is done by asking
trainee some verbal questions. Strength; valuable tool for collecting
evidence across full range of activities. This method can be rigorous
and standardized with planning and structure. Method is also easy
since it costless. Weaknesses; evidences collected would not be
sufficient for competence assignment. Some questions may be out of
what is supposed to be assessed. Assessors can often answer their
own questions.

ANSWER:
Definition; Short course is a training conducted for the purpose of
filling requirement gaps between present job and what the job holder
already perform. This is a summary of training required to enable an
individual to perform a particular job to the required standard.
