Abstract: This paper presents a light-weight and simple structure of monopole antenna using conductive textile.A
monopole antennas consist of a single radiating element such as a metal rod, often mounted over a conducting
surface, a ground plane. Monopoles have an omni directional radiation pattern, so they are used for broad coverage
of an area, and have vertical polarization. The prototype is designed with 2.5 mm thickness of Jeans for BodyCentric Wireless Communications (BCWC) operating in the 2.45 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM)
band. Also tested with FR4 material as a substrate. The Dimension used is 28x64.5mm.This Dimension is identified
by trial and error method on focusing 2.45GHz.The textile material have better performance when compared to
FR4.
I. INTRODUCTION
On-body antenna is very important element to be used for
various future IEEE802.15 wireless standard applications
[1]. Textile antenna is suitable for on-body radio
communication as it is textile and comfortable to be
integrated into clothing [2]. The textile monopole antenna is
chosen because this type of antenna is polarized normally to
the body surface and therefore it preserves a strong ray
diffracted around the body [3]. This present work describes
design and analysis of a textile monopole antenna basic
characteristic. The performance of the textile monopole
antenna is compared to a conventional monopole micro strip
antenna that operates in the 2.45 GHz ISM band. The
conducting ground plane and radiating element of the textile
monopole antenna comprise of PCPTF, a light-weight and
flexible conductive fabric. As for a substrate, felt fabric is
utilized.

dimensioned using its width, WG and length, LG. The
structure is fed by 50- SMA connector. The conventional
micro strip antenna is designed on a Jeans substrate with 2.5
mm thickness, h, copper thickness, t, of 0.035 mm and
substrate permittivity, "micro strip is taken as reference. The
dimension of proposed textile antenna's patch length, LM , is
calculated using a simple formula

III.LAYOUT OF DESIGN
The layout of the design is designed using ADS software.
This software is used to design the antenna and also to
analyse the various basic parameters of the antennas
Such as Radiation pattern, Return loss , Gain , Directivity,
Etc.,
Thus the layout resembles the above two figures.

VI.CONCLUSION
The light weighted and simple structure of a
monopole antenna was designed and tested. The antenna
thus has a resonant frequency of 2.45GHz with an omnidirectional antenna type. The textile monopole antenna was
designed using jeans.FR4 is used as a model for the design
of an antenna.
