The government can seize your private property under a process called eminent

domain and reallocate it to any endeavour they deem fit as long as they can prove
that it serves the public good.
The Takings Clause in the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution states
that, No person shall be deprived of property, without due process of law. This
provision, which initially served to protect citizens from unreasonable seizure, has
repeatedly been abused. Furthermore, a Supreme Court decision in 2005
determined that economic development justified the seizure of private property.
Freedoms are easily taken for granted. This particular freedom, the freedom to buy a
piece of land that one can call ones own, is a fundamental part of our culture and
should be protected at all costs.
Where does it stop? When do we lose power in a democratic nation?
One small concession leads to another.
In the event of a crisis, and only a crisis, I strongly believe that every citizen should
offer any assistance that they able to, including their private property.
In every other instance, however, each citizen should retain the right to keep what is
his or hers.
