Rules of International Symposium

In addition to Scratch programming competition SCRIPT 2017, International


Symposium SCRIPT 2017 will be organized. The International Symposium
SCRIPT 2017 encourages students and teachers to present their contributions to the
development of Scratch programming teaching and learning resources.
Scratch is a programming language developed by Lifelong Kindergarten group from
MIT Media Lab. With Scratch, pupils as young as 6 years old can learn basic
programming concepts. Scratch software can be downloaded for free from
http://scratch.mit.edu.

The Aim
The aim of the International Symposium SCRIPT 2017 is the dissemination of
activities and results of the students and teachers involved in developing educational
resources for learning Scratch programming.

The Objectives
The objectives of International Symposium SCRIPT 2017 are to:
Promote programming in pre-university education using Scratch programming
language.
Disseminate the results of students and teachers who create educational
resources for learning Scratch programming.

Target Group
Symposium target group is formed by pre-university students and teachers from
Europe.

Symposium Themes
Students and teachers can participate in symposium with educational materials that
promote Scratch programming learning or papers that present Scratch usage
experiences.

A didactical material for learning Scratch can be registered for symposium only if the
resource is freely available to the users.

Symposium Format and Data


The symposium will be organized as an online conference on May 09, 2017.

Materials Format
Papers that describe Scratch usage experiences in classrooms or after school clubs
will be sent as .doc files.
Educational materials for learning Scratch can be realized as .doc or .pdf files, PPT
presentations1, web pages, video tutorials, audio tutorials or other presentation
formats. A material can contain one or more documents, presentations, and/or video
tutorials.
If the material is a single .doc or .pdf file, it must have at least three pages (there is
no upper limit). The paper must be formatted as follows: A4 paper, 2cm equal
margins, 1 line spacing and Times New Roman 12 font.
If the material is a single PPT presentation, it must have at least 12 slides.
If the material is a single video tutorial, it must have a minimum duration of 1 minute.
A material can be co-authored by at most two teachers and two students. A teacher
or a student can participate in the symposium with one material either as author or
co-author.

Material Submission
The students and teachers who want to participate in symposium will register using
the electronic form provided by organizers.
After filling the registration form, the participants will send informations about the
material at scriptrial@gmail.com as follows:

Corresponding files for .doc or .pdf documents or PPT presentations.

Link for web pages.

Link to the video files uploaded on a website (e.g. www.youtube.com).

The material submission deadline is one day before the date of the symposium.

Registration Price
Participation in the symposium is free for both students and teachers.
