James Madison- Father of the Bill of Rights


The amendments in the Bill of Rights were created because the Constitution,
just like the Articles of the Confederation did not cover everything
The Articles of Confederation was the first written constitution of the United
States.
Amendment- to make a change or an addition
27 amendments total
Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Speech, Press, Assemble, and Petition
Amendment 2 - The Right to Bear Arms
Amendment 3 - The Housing of Soldiers
Amendment 4 - Protection from Unreasonable Searches and Seizures
Amendment 5 - Protection from self incrimination( remaining silent)
Amendment 6 - Rights of Accused Persons in Criminal Cases to a lawyer
Amendment 7 - Rights in Civil Cases to a trial by jury
Amendment 8 - Excessive Bail, Fines, and Punishments Forbidden (cruel and
unusual punishment)
Amendment 9 - Other Rights Kept by the People
Amendment 10 - Undelegated Powers Kept by the States and the People
