MR. MELENDEZ ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS INSTANT OFFENSE AND HE ADMITS THAT HIS
BEHAVIOR WAS INAPPROPRIATE AND THAT HE DID NOT BEHAVE AS HE SHOULD AS A VETERAN
POLICE OFFICER. AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE INTERVIEW HE EXPRESSED WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE
SINCERE REMORSE FOR HIS ACTIONS. HOWEVER, AT THIS POINT IN HIS SENTENCE MR. MELENDEZ
HAS NO IDEA WHY HE ASSAULTED AND SERIOUSLY INJURED A CITIZEN THAT POSED NO MEANINGFUL
THREAT TO HIM OR HIS PARTNER. MR. MELENDEZ'S LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF HIS CRIMINAL
BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE AND LEADS ME TO QUESTION HIS STATEMENT THAT SOMETHING LIKE
THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I DO NOT SUPPORT A PAROLE AT THIS TIME. //mce: p accepted
responsibility for his offense. good prison behavior w/ no mmc tickets. compas: . parole w/
/...SAW=GIVEN
P'S CONVICTION HE WILL NO LONGER HAVE THE ABILITY TO SERVE AS POLICE OFFICER WITH NO
SUCH AUTHORITY AS GIVEN AT THIS OFFENSE.
