URDU
Introduction.
The Department of Urdu has started functioning since the inception of the
College in the year 1956 under the private management. After the College
has been taken over by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1956.
Sri Md Abdul Gaffar, Sri Md Mahmood, Sri Basheer Ahmed, Sri Ateequddin
Siddiqui, Dr Abdul Hakeem, Sri M.A. Rauf Khair, a well-known Urdu poet and
writer, were the Urdu Lectureres worked in this Department.
Presently Dr Masroor Sulthana, Lecturer in Urdu, is in-charge of the
Department.
Literature is a connection between ages, it teaches us brotherhood, equality,
justice, unity, humanity, love and sincerity among human beings. It also

teaches us to give respect to human being without any discrimination like

wealth religion, language, color or anything.
The Department of Urdu Literature has a mission to make the youth rational
and sensible with above mentioned literary values.

Aims and Objectives of the Department:

To impart and develop Urdu language and literature.

To develop linguistic ability among the students.
To develop communication skills involving accuracy, fluency,
appropriacy, with the updation of latest information and
communication technology.
To develop study skills such as ability to use a dictionary, reference
books, newspaper, journals, etc.
To explore old and new horizons, of Urdu literature pertaining to prose
and poetry and criticism.
To inculcate the good characters among the students.
To arrange extension lectures, group discussions, students seminars,
national and international seminars, dramas, mushaaeras, field-trips,
remedial classes, for academically backward students quiz and all
lawful acts and things for the propagation of Urdu and for the
improvement of the academic standard of the student.

Activities of the Department :

The Department organizes the extension lectures every year by

inviting eminent academicians from colleges and universities.
A reference section in the Department is maintained with more than
100 copies of various books, journals, magazines, newspapers
related to classical and modern Urdu language and literature are
made available to students.
The Department conducts slip-tests, unit tests, assignments, project
works regularly for assessing the students performance.
The College conducts pre-final exams at the end of year to prepare
the students for university examination. The department prepares
the model papers for that exams.
The Department encourages the students to participate in literary
and social activity within the campus and outside the campus. As a
result a number of students used to get the state level prizes every
year.

The Department provides an atmosphere for the development of

creative talents among the students.
For the encouragement and of literary and cultural talents of
students the Department organizes the Literary and Cultural
competitions.
