You have now finished the basic doll! Now you can either make clothes for your doll, give
him/her hair or leave him/her bald or make a single curl to make a baby doll. Your basic doll
will look something like the one in Fig. 5, hopefully!

With knitted nappy (removable)

Knitted Nappy
Using 3mm needles and white DK yarn, cast on 30 stitches, ensuring you have left a few inches
of yarn at the cast on point. This will be needed later for fastening.

Row 38
Cast off. Sew in ends.
This forms the back of the nappy.
With 2.5mm crochet hook, make a loop on the front of the nappy, on the opposite side to where
you have left the yarn from cast on, by attaching yarn at the top edge and ch 4 before
attaching to the bottom edge. Tie off securely and weave in any ends. Sew on small buttons
approximately 1 inch in from the outer edges of the front of the nappy.

To fit the nappy to your doll, hold the front of the nappy to your doll and pass the gusset
between the dolls legs. Tie the front panel to the doll by passing the cast off end of yarn
through the loop and tying. Now you can pull the back of the nappy over the doll and fasten to
the front of the nappy with the buttons.
An alternative to the loop and yarn tie off, you could sew in all ends and attach a popper or
hook and eye to the ends of the nappy front.
N.B. To make underpants, cast on 20 stitches instead of 30 and continue pattern as before,
without making buttonholes in back section. Fold in half and sew sides together.
