Essential Skills: What Every Video Pro Needs to Know About Adobe Photoshop
We will start this session by exploring how to optimize Photoshop specifically for video
production. Then its time to use Photoshop to fix some problematic video clips. Along the
way well fix lens distortion using lens profiles, eliminate chromatic aberration, color correct
video clips with Adobe Camera RAW, and create a still panoramic backplate with one single
video file. Well also save our color correction layers as LUTs (Look Up Tables) to use with
future video projects in Premiere Pro or After Effects. Finally, we will explore how to speed up
the production between storyboard and animation as we cover the integrated workflow
between Photoshop and After Effects.

Essential Skills: Ten Essential After Effects Techniques for Every Video Professional
This session covers 10 essential techniques in After Effects no matter if youre a video editor, a
producer / editor, or a motion designer. Each technique designed based on the unique tools
available in After Effects. Topics include techniques such as building a graphics toolkit with
presets, keying with Keylight, 3D motion tracking, animating with Shape Layers, creating
dynamic motion with keyframes and cameras, and much more. If you are looking to expand
your skills, or just learn a little more about what After Effects can do, this is the session for you.

Advanced Skills: Getting the Most from After Effects CC

After Effects is a wonderful tool to work with, once you have streamlined your workflow. To
start this session, we will discuss optimum hardware and preference configurations. Then we
will analyze some common design and editing workflows to outline potential areas for
optimization. Starting with editing, well explore the best ways to link projects and graphics
between After Effects and Premiere Pro using Dynamic Link and Templates. For motion
graphics and visual effects, well focus on how to speed up projects using proxies, animation
and effects presets. Well round things out by exploring ways to create quicker renders and
workflow techniques for keeping track of multiple revisions.

Essential Skills: Typography Essentials for Motion and Video Projects

These days it seems like every video project has to be ready to view on any device, from
your phone, to computer, to the big screen. That being said, typography becomes an
essential skill required in any video professionals toolkit. Well start this session by covering the
fundamentals of typography. Then well analyze the deeper meanings created when using
certain typefaces and layouts. Everything from capitalization and negative space, to
crowded screens with little space, each choice can relay a different message. Once we
cover the theories, then well move on to design and animate a few different typographic
projects using Type Animators, Expressions and Behaviors. As we finish the session, well
explore how to create some project templates for both Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Essential Skills: Getting Started with Cinema 4D (1:45)

application like Cinema 4D. In this session well cover the essentials of the interface, workflow,
and functionality of Cinema 4D. As we explore, we will move our way through modeling,

Session Descriptions Robbie Carman

Making a smooth transition from production to post
You may have heard the phrase Fix It In Post before DONT!
While postproduction tools & techniques can fix many common problems, getting visuals
and audio right on location is a key component for success. In addition, making a smooth
hand off from on-set to post means more than just handing over media files.

What a video pro needs to know about color grading & acquisition workflow
Modern acquisition & production/post workflows are all about one thing capturing and
then working with the most image information in post as possible!
However, the more you research cameras, monitoring, camera workflows and how to
handle footage in post, the more youll start to feel like you need an advanced math or
color science degree! The terms at best can be complex and at worst just gibberish.

Mastering a timeline: visual finishing techniques

In this session, join Robbie Carman in exploring essential techniques for finishing & mastering
video in a project using Adobe Premiere Pro & other Creative Cloud applications. From small
glitches and color correction problems to working with graphics and outputting deliverables
for broadcast, the web and cinema, there is a lot that goes into finishing a project after
editing is done.

Color catastrophe: fixing common color problems

Video shots can have all sorts of problems with contrast and color and fixing them can be
frustrating and technically challenging, but making problem shots look their best is easy with
some essential techniques. In this session, join colorist Robbie Carman as he shares
straightforward and approachable recipes for fixing common color problems using Adobe
Premiere Pro but also general techniques that can be applied in nearly every postproduction
application.

Mastering a timeline: audio finishing techniques

In this session join Robbie Carman in exploring practical techniques for finishing audio in a
video project using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition. Its been said that audiences
are forgiving with visual problems but when it comes to audio even the smallest issues are
noticed.
