TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Course Instructor
University of Notre Dame, IN, US
Undergraduate course, Beginning Italian I.
Teaching Assistant
University of Notre Dame, IN, US
Undergraduate course, Beginning Italian I. Main instructor: Loren Valterza
Teaching Assistant
May-June 2014
I collaborated with an English teacher in preparing lessons and programs. The school was for non-native English speakers, so I
had the opportunity to learn a method for teaching a foreign language. In the afternoon, I worked in the office, helping to
organize the archives and arrange school activities.
Teaching Assistant
March-June 2013
I collaborated with an Italian Literature and History teacher in preparing lessons, evaluating tests and essays, and leading
discussions in class.
Teaching Assistant
I collaborated with an Italian and Latin teacher in preparing lessons, evaluating tests and essays, and leading discussions in
class.
Tutor
I gave private lessons to a high school student, especially in Italian Literature, History and Math. Rather than just helping
him with these particular subjects, however, my primary goal was to teach him a studying method, so that he could work on
his own more successfully.
EDUCATION
FELLOWSHIPS
2016: Albert Ravarino Italian Studies Travel Scholarship, University of Notre Dame
The Ravarino Fellowship will fund a trip to Italy (Turin, Milan) in order to carry out research on the Italian writer Primo
Levi, author of the novel If this is a man, which will be the focus of my M.A. thesis.
SPORT ACTIVITY
I played soccer for eighteen years in three different teams: Aurora Seriate, La Traccia and Nazareth FC. Over the
last two years in the Nazareth FC I had the double role of player and assistant coach. With these teams I took part
to the CSI (Italian Sport Center) or FIGC (Italian Soccer Federation) Leagues.
Public relations International Centre of Communion and Liberation, Rome, Italy September 2014 - July 2015
I kept contacts with the Holy See and the Embassies to the Holy See to promote relationships and partnerships especially in
the fields of education, culture and human development.
Events planning
During three years of unwaged collaboration with Avvenimenti (pilgrimages, retreats, and event planning company) I gained
good problem solving and decisional skills, and excellent ability in organizing events up to 800 people (coordinating
movements and dislocating participants, organizing hotel accommodations and bus connections).
Waiter for catering and hotels
2006-2014
I worked for two different catering companies (especially on the weekend or at the night), for two hotels (in the summer
season) and a caf. They were important experience because I learned to be flexible, hard-working, reliable and to work in a
team or independently, since the working conditions were pressing and demanding and the time-schedules variable.
Employers: Papillon Eventi, Sesto San Giovanni, Italy; Atto Primo Banqueting, Milano, Italy; Hotel Planibel, La
Thuile, Italy; Hotel Lungomare, Riccione, Italy; Fresco Cafe, Bournemouth, UK.
Volunteer at a cultural fair
The Rimini Meeting is a cultural festival held every year in August in Rimini. Every year, numerous speakers from the fields
of science, culture, society and politics deliver lectures at the Meeting. As a volunteer, I worked to help the realization of the
fair. My task changed for each edition according to the organizers necessities. For example, I worked as an assistant in the
book shop or guide in the exhibitions.
Volunteer at hospice
During my high school years I used to spend two Saturday afternoons per month in this hospice as a volunteer. It was a great
experience because, through sharing time with alone and elderly people, I learned to be open-minded and sensitive towards
other peoples needs. For this reason, as soon as I arrived in South Bend, I decided to start again doing this kind of
volunteering. I am currently serving as a volunteer at Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend, IN, US. In the past, I have
served at the Casa di ricovero Gleno, Bergamo, Italy.
