The Lost Battalion

In wars, people die. It is, in a way, justified murder. With that said, my point is
clear. Morals are not a top priority in war. In the movie, The Lost Battalion, some
hard decisions had to be made because the United States was engaged in a war.
War is not a good thing. However, it is sometimes necessary. Furthermore, when you
are commanding an army, you have to get things done. These things cost a price,
and that price is the lives of noble men/women who love their country. This is a
terrible reality, but one should not blame a general for the nature of war. That is
why I will be defending General Alexanders decisions. If I was in General
Alexanders position, I would have made the same decisions.
I would have made the same decisions as General Alexander because they
completed their objective. War is tragic by nature, and there were losses, but
General Alexanders plan did work. The U.S. was able adjust their flanks because
Major Whittlesey and his battalion clogged up the middle of the U.S. Offensive
forces. This was how the U.S. was able to break through the German line. In the
bigger picture, this was a successful tactic.
In the movie The Lost Battalion, some hard decisions had to be made
because they were engaged in a war. However, the decisions made lead to a victory.
There were losses, and no humans lives should be considered expendable.
However, in war, these were acceptable losses form a tactical standpoint. War is a

terrible thing, but that is just how War works. I strongly believe that the decisions
made were the best for the overall good of the U.S. military and the entire country.
