Strings/Synths. I plan to record some other source to add to the Guitar and synths Ive already gathered
for the next library to make it even more useful and varied!
SO not only are all the wind and bell samples I recorded in
the library, there are also some very special bonus WIND_TV
samples performed by Steve Tavaglione. They add an amazing
extra level of depth to the library and Im thrilled to be able to
share this with you.
NOTE: Im making a special YouTube video showing how to use this library and this interface! LOTS of
cool tricks will be shared so make sure you watch to learn all the secrets of this library!
Please read the installation instructions or watch the enclosed short video to see how to install this
library into each of the 4 plug-ins that this single library supports. If you still have questions AFTER

INSTALLTION for:
Kontakt 5.5
(full version required)
1) Unzip/Extract library the standard location that
Native Instruments puts these libraries is:
Mac HD / Users / Shared /
You dont have to put the library there, but that is the
usual location in OS X. I actually have most of my Kontakt
libraries on an external HD. If you do this, make sure you
have opened the options and added this new location to
the Database tab.
If you try to load a Kontakt instrument and get a SAMPLES ARE MISSING error message, that is
because the location of this library on YOUR computer doesnt match where it was located on MY
computer.
ALL of the necessary samples are here, its just that your computers directory names are different, so the
files are looking for the samples and thinking that MY computer folder names will be found. Chances are
they wont! So use Batch Re-Save to Re-Connect the samples and the files.
Instructions to perform a Batch re-save:

In Kontakt 5, Click the Files button in the top menu, at the bottom of the list choose
Batch re-save.
It will warn you that files will be overwritten by this process just say OK, you know what
your doing :D
Navigate and select the MegaMacho Drums folder (you remember where you put it, right?) It will
start to search for files and then start to load the drum kits and re-connect them to the samples.
If an error message shows up, either select Search Spotlight on the Mac, or on PC you have to
actually navigate into MegaMacho Drums and locate the Samples Folder. Select that folder,
hit OK, and it should then take a couple minuets to re-save all of the files.
Distortion - allows you to apply guitar pedal type distortion to the samples. It
is currently set to Hi-Gain which can be too extreme for some application. If
you own the full version of Kontakt 5, you can edit this to be more like an
Overdrive type of distortion: Edit the Instrument (click the wrench icon), you
can double-click the effect box that says Jump and turn off the HiGain
button. You can also make the distortion mono here instead of stereo.
LoFi - changes Sample Rate and Bit Rate settings in real-time. Generally you
get more interesting sounds from lower sample rates with darker sounds that
have resonance. But everything sounds cool with LoFi on it. Noise and Color
are a noise generator that is able to add noise to the sound. Color is a Low
Pass filter cutoff parameter on the noise to make it a darker sound. Noise has
its own gate which stays open too long for me, but I dont see anyway to
change it.
Glitch - maybe the coolest effect in the toolkit! This is an internal note
repeating effect. Rate is variable from note all the way to 1/256th of a note!
Repeats determines how many times it repeats. Feedback when at a very low
setting causes the sound to decay out faster (its actually lowering the velocity
of each repeat so you can modify this with your filter and amp velocity
knobs). Tune allows you to set each successive repeat to increase or
decrease in pitch in semitone values from 1 semitone up to a full octave per
repeat. Start allows you to change the sample start position helpful for times when you dont want the
strong transient of a sample to be repeated.
NOTE: The Rate values are tied to the tempo of your song. If you are using the faster rates (1/64th, 1/128 and
1/256th) you can actually alter the pitch of these fast repeats by changing the tempo of your song. If you want a
certain pitch to your glitch, this is how to do that. Sample the glitch parts with the pitch you want, then re-set the
tempo back to what you want it to be and now trigger samples of the glitch.
NOTE: Start is nice for getting rid of strong transients as it moves the sample start location into the sample. AMP EG
Attack is also wonderful to use to get rid of the attack of a sample. Use the 2 together for even more control.
Compressor - This is Solid Bus Compressor that was added with Kontakt 5.
Native Instruments sells this as a separate 100.00 plug-in but its built into
Kontakt 5 and sounds awesome! Very snappy results designed for the entire
mix buss but works on select sounds as well. Bring up the Threshold to lower
the amount of compression applied.
Punch Transient Designer effect for shaping the attack in multiple ways.
You can use the Attack knob to bring up more or remove attack from a
sample. Sustain can either diminish the body or expand it like an expander
effect. Input to control the overall mix so you dont cause distortion to the
sound if you use extreme amounts of attack.
Velocity Control
At the very last hours of developing this library, I contacted Aaron and said, Dude, we have to add
velocity control knobs to the top interface! Then I contacted JMart and said Dude, I need graphics
in the bottom Right corner for 3 knobs that Im sticking there! and in a short day or two, we did
it!!
See, I found that I needed to change these knobs all the time depending on a specific application and
if they were not at the top of the user interface, then Kontakt 5 Player guys wouldnt be able to
access these critical knobs. Im thinking all the time about you guys that are using the Kontakt 5
player to make sure you have TONS of control over the drum samples!!
The A knob controls Amp (or volume) by velocity amount. The higher it is, the more the
volume will change by different velocity settings. Drums get quite a lot louder when this
knob is turned to 0, so watch the output level!
The F knob controls the velocity sensitivity to the Filter cutoff setting. This knob needs
to be turned down if you want the filter to reach its lower settings. In otherwords, if you
have filter cutoff knob turned all the way down, the filter cutoff will still be high if this
knob is being used to control filter velocity.
The D knob controls the value of the Amp Envelope Decay settings. This is an awesome knob. Set
Your Amp EG Decay at about 55% and then the D knob at max and now soft velocities will play the
sound with a very short snappy EG while harder velocities will play the full sample. So you can use
this on hihats or percussion to get a wide range of decay sounds just by playing with soft to hard
velocites.
Note: The Glitch feedback knobs effectiveness is tied directly to the Filter and Amp velocity senvitivity
setting. Set them at very high settings and the Glitch feedback can be a lot more dramatic when the
Feedback knob is at very small values.
The Delay is a pretty basic digital delay. Sync button determines whether the time knob
is free or syncd to host. Damp is a filter that darkens the filter taps. Width allows you to
vary the taps from mono to 100% L/R altering taps. Feed is feedback for the delay taps.
Note: The Delay is configured before both of the reverbs. This can cause some cool contrasts with the
reverbd versions of the sounds.
ToneVerb is a convolution reverb with a bunch of convolution presets that are designed
more to alter the tone of the sounds (instead of being an ambient reverb). Between
orchestra and band hits, to synth hits, sub bass impacts and noise sweeps, these custom
presets can totally transform the drum kits in a TON of fun ways.
AmbiVerb is slightly more traditional reverb types that can help put the drum kits into
unique environments. There are reverbs anywhere from 0.2 seconds all the up to 13
seconds!
Both reverbs share the same parameters but are different for each effect settings-wise:
IR Size - allows you to change the length of time the reverb lasts. 100% is at the middle
position while raising the knob makes the playback longer while lowering the knob below
100% makes the playback shorter.
Pre-Delay adds a gap of time before the reverb takes effect. Reverb with a slight amount
of pre-delay can make a reverb seem like a larger environment.
HPF and LPF are filters for shaping what frequency range is allowed to be influenced by
the reverb. Bringing up HPF removes low end from the reverb while LPF removes high
end as you bring the knob down.
FINAL NOTES:
It is really satisfying to design a library and think about making it work in more than one plug-in format. I
want as many of you guys to have access to these sounds as possible. I hope you find boatloads of
inspiration in these sounds and enjoy using this interface.
