Task 07-11-00-582-002-A Jacking - General

WARNING :

MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR.

WARNING :

BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT WITH JACKS:

-

MAKE SURE THAT THE WEIGHT OF FUEL IS APPLIED EQUALLY ON THE TWO SIDES OF THE AIRCRAFT CENTERLINE.

WARNING :

MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS STABLE:

- BEFORE YOU PUT IT ON JACKS

- DURING ALL THE TIME IT STAYS ON JACKS.

CAUTION :

YOU MUST NOT LIFT THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE SAFETY STAY.

CAUTION :

DO NOT USE THE TAIL SAFETY STAY WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IS ON ITS WHEELS.

CAUTION :

REMOVE THE SAFETY STAY BEFORE YOU DO THE LANDING GEAR EXTENSION AND RETRACTION TESTS. DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE CAN OCCUR I F THE AIRCRAFT MOVES DURING THE TESTS.

CAUTION :

BEFORE YOU LIFT OR YOU LOWER THE AIRCRAFT MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO EQUIPMENT ADJACENT TO IT (THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE). MAKE SURE THAT NO OTHER WORK IS BEING DONE.

(1)

You must lift the aircraft at three points o n the structure with three hydraulic jacks:

.

one point is under the forward fuselage at FR8,

.

the two other points are under the wings at Rib 9. When the aircraft is on jacks, put a safety stay between FR73 and FR74. This prevents any accidental movement of the aircraft.

(2)

NOTE :

You must not use the safety stay to lift the aircraft.

You can lift the aircraft with jacks when the ti res and the shock absorbers are deflated. You can lift the aircraft at the forward jacking point only, with the wheels of the main landing gear on the ground.

B. Reaction at the Jacking Points

NOTE :

The maximum permitted aircraft weight for the jacking procedure is 59000 kg (130072.6980 lb).

(1)

Make sure that you do not apply more than the safe load at each jacking point.

(2)

At the point at FR8:

.

the permitted load is 6800 daN (15287.0052 lbf)

(3)

At the points at Ribs 9, left and right wings:

.

the permitted load is 28500 daN (64070.5365 lbf)

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL

The inclined blocks must have sufficient strength to support the aircraft weight.

The inclined blocks can be made from:

.

Heavy timbers or railroad crossties, or

.

Plywood sheets covered with a steel plate of 6 MM (0.2362 IN.) minimum thickness, or

.

Plywood sheets covered with a light-alloy sheet 20 MM (0.7874 IN.) of minimum thickness.

(6)

Procedure

Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-001-A).

Tow the aircraft (Ref. TASK 09-10-00-584-002-A) a small distance to make sure that the nose wheels turn freely.

Do the inspection after a tire burst or thread throw or wheel failure (Ref. TASK 05-51-15-200-001-A) if necessary.

Make sure that there is suffici ent space around the aircraft.

Make sure that the aircraft is stable before you lift the aircraft (Ref. TASK 05-57-00-200-001-A).

NOTE :

AIRBUS recommends that you do not do operations that can change the weight or stability of the aircraft during jacking (gate docking, fueling/defueling, loading/unloading, etc.).

Make sure that the WHEEL CHANGE AXLE JACK (TMHCP07-00-00) or equivalent JACK - WHEEL CHANGE, MAIN/NOSE LANDING GEAR and BLOCK-INCLINED are in the correct condition.

Subtask 07-12-00-582-054-A

WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS STABLE AND DOES NOT MOVE DURING THE JACKING OPERATIONS. IF THERE IS UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE BALL PAD CAN COME OFF THE JACK ADAPTER AND INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.

A. Jacking (Ref. Fig. 07-12-00-991-00500-A - Illustration of the N ose Gear Wheel Change with inclined blocks)

(1)

Installation of the Inclined Blocks

(a)

Put one BLOCK-INCLINED below each nose wheel. Make sure that:

.

The axes of the BLOCK-INCLINED are aligned with the aircraft centerline

.

The position of the BLOCK-INCLINED lets you install the hydraulic jack below the jacking dome.

(2)

Aircraft Towing

(a)

For the towing on the BLOCK-INCLINED, there must be one person in the cockpit to operate the brakes if necessary, and two persons to monitor the wing tips.

(b)

Pull or push the aircraft on the top flat area of the BLOCK-INCLINED (Ref. TASK

09-10-00-584-002-A).

(c)

Put the CHOCK - WHEEL(S) in position in front of and behind the Main Landing Gear (MLG)

wheels.

(d)

Remove the towbar from the Nose Landing Gear (NLG) fitting.

(e)

On the panel 110VU:

Jacking

(a)

Put the WHEEL CHANGE AXLE JACK (TMHCP07-00-00) or equivalent JACK - WHEEL CHANGE, MAIN/NOSE LANDING GEAR in position and adjust the jack until its adapter touches the jacking dome of the shock absorber.

(b)

Make sure that the wheel jack is stable and in the vertical position.

(c)

Operate the jack to lift the tire off the BLOCK-INCLINED.

(d)

Remove the BLOCK-INCLINED.

(e)

Change the wheels (Ref. TASK 32-41-12-000-001-A) (Ref. TASK 32-41-12-400-001-A).

(f)

Lower the aircraft on its wheels. Do not lower the aircraft on its wheels suddenly. To prevent this, operate the control of the hydraulic jack slowly.

SHORING - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

** On A/C ALL

Task 07-20-00-583-003-A Shoring of the Aircraft

1. Reason for the Job

Shoring is necessary to give a support to the wing in order to release the loads on the structure when you do major work or modifications. The AMM shoring procedure gives the general principle only. Use the detailed shoring instructions given in:

.

SRM 51-51-00, when shoring is required for specific Airbus repairs.

.

ARM 3-28, when shoring is required for recovery of the aircraft.
