2016
Dearest Ones,
Can you believe that the year is ending? Where has it gone? Here, at the end of
it I want to share some beautiful and reassuring promises from Gods word, promises
that sustain His children every minute of every day of every year:
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His
faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the
desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and
He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the
light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently
for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because
of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and
forsake wrath; do not fret it only causes harm (Psalm 37:3-8).
Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have
done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order;
if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered (Psalm 40:5).
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to
their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the
remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord
hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to
those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit

(Psalm 34:15-18).

Looking back, it has been a full and wonderful year. Of course the highlight for
me, personally, was the three months I was privileged to spend with brothers and sisters in Christ in Italy, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, New Zealand, and Australia. I had
shared my book, First Steps in Faith, with Lynda Staiger in Auckland. As she was
reading it, she texted, wondering if Sunny David (the first convert in New Delhi)
was still faithful. I replied, He is one of the three elders in the church in Delhi,
along with his brother, Francis, and Kumar Malik who was converted from Hinduism. He converted his mother and brothers. He, Francis, and Francis son, Vinay,
do the two weekly TV programs and they do monthly English and Hindi magazines;
and his wife, children, and grandchildren are Christians. Yes, he has remained true to
his commitment on that wonderful day when he was baptized into Christ!

This is what Sunny wrote, looking back on the development of the church in India:

In early 1960s when Christians from Canada and America began to enter India with the true message of the Gospel
of Christ, there existed all kinds of denominational churches since the colonial days throughout the country. Hardly any
people, at that point of time, had heard about the true church the church one can read about in the Bible. Today the
Gospel is being preached in India everywhere in the homes of people every day through literature, radio and T.V. People
are being taught the truth of Gods word. Everyday people are calling, and writing, asking questions, requesting for more
literature and Bible correspondence courses. They are learning the truth and upon obeying the truth are becoming free
from ignorance and all kinds of falsehood which had enchained them for years. Thank God for making all such work tools
available to us to reach people everywhere with His souls saving message and for men like J.C.Choate , who relentlessly work to obey His great command to preach the gospel to all nations. Sunny David (sunny_davidin@yahoo.co.in)

We also work closely with Earnest Gill in Chandigarh. He has a Bible training school, translates and prints The Voice
of Truth International and Truth for Today (Eddie Cloers materials) into Hindi, and is involved in numerous other outreach works:

We had just been more busy these past days. Almost every evening we were invited some where and use to come
back late at night. We were in Ludhiana yesterday. Met one old friend who had been studying with me and we lost contact
and he is involved in some Methodist group. He has started a congregation there. Good thing is that he has been teaching
from our books only. I asked him if he has done some Bible training. He told me that he reads our books and preaches.
Thats all. I was glad that he is so keen. He introduced me with one young man in Uttranchal who wants to do correspondence course. I encouraged him too, to do Basic course and will send him some courses for teaching others also. We
have left 6 lessons of BBC Hindi and would request you to add if possible this time for its printing. One lessons printing is
$350. (Earnest Gill: ernst@rediffmail.com)

Joshua and Kabita live in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India and work in the Telugu and Oriya languages, along with their
son Ricky. Another son, Ronnie plans to open a preacher training school shortly. Together they do TV programs, magazines,
operate an orphanage, and have Gospel meetings, working with local preachers throughout the state. Joshua wrote:

Its good to hear from you. Perhaps you know Ricky is blessed with a daughter two months back and Robin is blessed
with a son three days back. So we are kind a busy receiving our grand children. Rachel and the new baby are still in the hospital as it was a Cesarian delivery. Yes, Ronnie will want as many books [I had texted, asking if they would want some of the
books from J.C.s library], commentaries, etc., as possible. You can please make arrangements
for their shipment here at your convenience. (Joshua Gootam: jgootam@yahoo.com)

Ricky sent a picture and wrote this concerning one of the children who was raised in their
orphanage and has gone on to adulthood:

This is Ganesh. He was with us in our childrens home for many years. He finished his
ITI and is working in Bangalore in the electrical field. He came to see how we are all doing.
It is nice to see how our kids are and hear their stories on how they are settled and how they
are helpful to the local congregation wherever they go. God has been using us to help many
like this. I dont expect anything back but I tell them to go and help the local church and be involved in the work wherever they are. May God use us more in His service. (Ricky Gootam:

Philemon Rajah, Kingsly Rajah, and Antony Raj are three brothers with whom we work in the Madurai, Tamil Nadu area.

Sister, our kind request is that, as brother Philemon talked with you over phone, we are in need of literatures (tracts
and Bible courses) in large quantities for making use of a good chance of distributing to the denominational world during the Christmas, New year and also the Pongal festival times when there will be denomination meetings at different
places in which lot of people will be participating. So please help us with any funds for making use of this great chance by
which we can encourage our J.C.School of Evangelism students at different
places. For example, even this Sunday we are going to distribute Bibles to
some 45 people in Cape Comorin, because of the effort of a blind brother
who is ourJ.C.School of Evangelism graduate, who regularly distributes
Bible lessons to the sighted world. Like this, many students are in action,
sacrificing their time and daily wages once or twice in a week. (Kingsly rajah:
kingsbeverly@yahoo.com)
Greetings and just wanted to share this happy news that, yesterday one
blind man whom we had contacted through the bible camp for the blind people,
took baptism. Kindly keep praying for this ministry for this special people. (Phi-

Brother Arjunan with his wife, Glory, work in Tamil Nadu, through TV and radio programs, printing, and traveling throughout the state for seminars with contacts and students:

We and our local congregation members are doing well. The Church at Batlagundu has decided to start worship
services in a new own place, with construction work going now. Hope well start worshiping in the new place from January
2017 onwards. For the past 28 years the church has been meeting for worship and all other church activities in our house.

Then we had gone to conduct the 13th Readers Seminar
in Coimbatore District on 22nd of this month. One of our readers and our TV viewers, who arranged for this seminar, is a
retired Teacher. Even though she is a denominational lady she
used to gather about 25 ladies and has a group prayer in her
own house every week, providing lunch, introducing our magazine and visiting Hindu ladies and sharing about Jesus. She
had opened her house to us to conduct our magazine readers
seminar and preach the word of God among the ladies was
wonderful. We distributed all our World Evangelism publications to them. Her activities reminded us Lydia in the scripture
(Acts 16). The ladies were interestingly heard the doctrine.
We have sowed the seeds with trusting and praying for them
to be saved. Hope our Lord will give us good harvest through
our media works. As you know all of these Seminars are the
Second round in all district of our State. It is being conducted
as your suggestion. We too feel that this is our follow up work.

13th Readers
Seminar in
Coimbatore
District

After Glorys retirement, works became more and talk became less. Every month we are traveling to many places,
districts, cities, for doing the Lords work. We are very happy in pleasing God by this way. Among all these works we are
preparing for magazine, Radio and TV programs. Thus typing, recording and editing works are continuing as usual.

In the next month we plan to have the 14th Readers Seminar in Thiruchirapalli District on 12th and then well have
Tamilnadu Churches of Christ Preachers Fellowship Meeting on 13th in the same city. We expect many preachers to come
and attend this meeting. (Arjunan: arjunanglory@gmail.com)

Rajanayagam also works among the people of Tamil Nadu. It was to this area of India that the apostle Thomas came in the
first century and preached the Gospel. Probably because of the permeation of that work, these people are more responsive to the
truth than most of those in the North:

Greetings and this is to know about our trip to East Tamil Nadu work with the denomination preacher who obeyed the
gospel in the recent camp and to with the ones whom we are in contact already. We visited three places and held meetings in two places. By the result of this Four ladies obeyed the gospel , two each from the places. It was attended by small
groups of 20-25 members and this helped much to reach them easily. Please remember them in your prayers. I am attaching a picture of the ladies meeting held on Tuesday, in which
Rachel did the teaching. It was attended by around 100 and was
well arranged. (Rajanayagam: rajarichal@yahoo.co.in)

P.K. Varghese works in the southern tip of India, in the state of

Kerala:
In this side all goes well. We started a new work in a new place.
Only four families meet in worship. Dr. Gills and His wife Jaya, her
relative Linnus, bro. Francis and his
wife Hancy,
Thomas and
his wife Sumi.
We need your continuous prayer for this.

We started a bible study at the house of Francis. Usually 7 people
attend. Once a month we go to Trivandrum to visit those congregations
we left behind. Most of the members in those congregations could not
believe that we would leave Trivandrum. But it was needed and for
good. People in this place are so friendly. They accepted us. We visit
houses and introduce us and our works. After January we are planning
to hold a campaign. (P.K. Varghese: peekeyvarghese@yahoo.co.in)

The church in Trivandrum has

a new meeting place.

The Gospel is our mission. The world is our home.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age. Amen.
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you (John 14:18).
[Angels are] ...ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation... (Hebrews 1:14).

Dont miss out on these treasures!

The latest issue of Global Harvest will be

available soon. Many will receive a free copy
because we are trying to make more brethren
aware of its existence. We do need you to
order the magazine ($10 for 2 issues), so that
its future publication can be secured. The
church needs this mission information.

Well, Ive run out of space for more reporting from the brethren overseas, but I do want to
share a picture of the new issue of The Voice of Truth International, volume 90, which was
delivered this week. Also, here is a picture of volunteers from three congregations that came to
help unload those 8 pallets of magazines and tracts: from West President church in Greenwood,
MS, from Old Union church in Carrollton, MS, and from Huntsville church in French Camp,
MS. We depend on volunteers to help with things that we cant do alone, and thats for two very
good reasons: were saving money, and were having priceless fellowship with brothers and
sisters who share our concern for the lost! What blessings!
Of course we are thankful for opportunity to be with family during the holidays, and we look
forward to all that the New Year promises to bring! Blessings from GOD to all His children!
I am thrilled with the interest that is being shown in our line of tracts, both for the affirmation that they are good tools for outreach, and for the fact that churches are doing the outreach! We can
never forget that we are left in this warring world for
one purpose: to be the light that helps others to
find Christ!

I AM ASKING AGAIN:

Would some dedicated, healthy, retired couple

please make the prayerful decision to move to Winona to help us??? We have housing in which you
can live, and we promise to keep you so busy you
will know that you didnt really retire! Its great
to spend all day every day in the Lords work!

Love and hugs, Betty
