DJERBA

South Island of Tunisia located in the Gulf of Gabes (or small Sirte). Its
area is modest: 514 km2.
Djerba is located about 50 km north of Medenine, between the peninsulas
of Jorf and Zarzis. The island belongs to Medenine. It is separated from the
mainland by an inlet, the channel Ajim, only 2 km wide. The island
is connected to the mainland since Roman times by a 7
km long road, ElKantara, which connects the southeast corner to the
peninsula of Zarzis. Northwest ferries andferry crossing
between Adjim provide and Djorf. The island is flat (altitude below
100 m). It rises to 55 m at the hill Dhahret Adloun. The ribs which extend
over 125 km are sandy. Its climate is.Subdesert. Rainfall: 200 mm / year.
MoODELE ISLAND: radial-ture. From Souk Houmt stretches to the east a

Southwest of the island is Guellala, the potters' village. All the
