As mentioned in the readings the most consistent and common placement strategy specifically for people with disabilities is Vocational Rehabilitation. Depending on the county or community the services provided within VR may look a bit different since the need and labor markets available within their geographical area may be a bit different. As a resident of Polk County, we have programs such as Candeo that focus on the placement of people with disabilities. Other types of placement strategies in my community evolve around Network theories, for example, Proteus hosts a monthly meeting open to any professional and employer in such meetings updates related to their individual agency including job announcements. The monthly collaboration develops trust that in increase return placement for the people who attendees advocate on behalf. Also, the Office of Pacific Islanders created an Employer Guide, the goal of such guide is for placement for refugees. In conclusion, there are more ethnic related placement strategies in place in my community then specific placement strategies for people with disabilities. I don't believe anything will change unless students such as myself stay involved and advocate on behalf of persons with disabilities. After all, a disability can happen to anyone from any ethnic background.
