Summary of Focus Groups and Their Application to Research
Qualitative research methods provide understanding as to how how theories can be created and or challenged, forms of research methods provide an overall understanding of the difference between primary and secondary research used to support one of the many forms of research such as qualitative. There are multiple forms of primary research, in this paper focus groups will be the main form of research that will be discussed. Secondary form of data is used on a more frequent basis by students due to the simplicity of accessing it. For example, websites and scholarly articles such as ebsco are considered to be secondary sources. Primary sources tend to include observations, inspections, experiments surveys and interviews, and focus groups. Observations can be defined as the method of viewing a specific action to comprehend a specific detail about that action. Inspections are similar to observations however, inspection require carefully examining One of the advantages to primary sources of data is the higher chance to control the reliability of the information, which can as a result reduce mistakes and biases (Sweat, 2015).
