ChicagoCenterforArts&Technology(CHICAT)islocatedintheIllinoisMedicalDistrictandoffers
nocostvocationalprogramsandcertificationstounderemployedresidentsoftheNorthLawndale,
PilsenandLittleVillagecommunities.
TheAdultsStudentServicesCoordinatordirectsandcoordinatesAdultStudentServicesfunctions,
recruitsstudents,doesoutreachtofeederagencies,identifiesstudentsassets,servesstudentneedsand
actsasaliaisonbetweentheChicagoCenterforArtsandTechnologyandoutsideagenciesand
employersinthehealthcareandmanufacturingsectors.
ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
Therequirementslistedbelowarerepresentativeoftheknowledge,skill,and/orabilityrequired.

Advisesindividualstudentsandgroupsofstudentsonmatterspertainingtopersonalproblems,
educationalandvocationalobjectives,specialprojectsoractivities.
Servesasaresourcetohelpalleviatestudentproblemsandovercomebarriersthrureferralsand
networking.
Documentandtracktraineeseligibility,assessments,achievements,andjobplacements.
Actsasliaisonbetweenstudentsandoutsideagenciesandemployers.
Assistsprospectivestudentswithmitigatingbarrierstoenteringtheprogram.
Actsasmediatorforstudentcomplaintsinanefforttosolvethem.
Workswithinstructorsandadultstaffopdocumentsallstudentinteractions.
Assistsindevelopmentofnewandongoingstudentpoliciesandproceduresregardingstudent
academics,attendance,conduct,safety,etc.
Facilitatesreportstocertifyingbodies,theStateandAccreditingAgencyasnecessary.
Directstestingservices.
AssistsindirectingappropriationsoftheAdultProgramming.
Participatesinmeasuresforstudentscreening,suchasstudentinterviewsandbackground
searches.
Handlesstudentreasonableaccommodationrequestsforassessmenttestingandcoordinateswith
trainingdirectorinclass.
Reviewsreportsofstudentmisconductcasesthatrequiredisciplinaryactiontoensure
recommendationsconformtoschoolpolicies.
Providesworkplacereadinessandsoftskillstrainingwithintheprograms.
Representstheinstitutionpubliclyonmatterspertainingtostudentprogramsandactivities,
includingpersonalparticipationinlocal,stateornationalorganizations.
Developandmaintainongoingpartnershipswithavarietyofindustryemployersand
representativestopromoteexternshipsandjobplacement.
WorkwithCOOtostafftheindustryadvisorycommittees.
StayapprisedofexternalprogramsthatprovideincentivestobusinessestohireCHICAT
candidates.
Providesleadershipteamwithcurrentinformationonlocal,stateandfederalguidelinesand
legislationaffectingpostsecondaryeducationinstitutions.
Occasionallyadvisesindividualsandgroupsonspecialprojectsoractivities.
Otherdutiesasassigned.
EDUCATIONand/orEXPERIENCE:
B.S.inHigherEducationAdministration,BusinessAdministrationorsimilarareaofinterest,
andprogressiveexperienceinpostsecondaryadministration.
StrongwritingandcommunicationskillsandproficientinMSOfficeapplications.
Experienceineitherthehealthcarefieldormanufacturingfieldaplus.
KnowledgeofWIOAfundinganddocumentationaplus.
MSWortheologybackgroundandSpanishlanguageskillsaplus.
CulturallycompetentandpossessastrongunderstandingofChicagosnonprofitlandscape,
andtheissuesfacingAfricanAmericanandLatinocommunitiespreferred.
Knowledgeandexperiencewiththehistory,assetsandchallengesofLittleVillage,North
LawndaleandPilsen.

MathematicalSkills:
Abilitytoapplyconceptsofbasicbusinessmathprinciplesinthedevelopmentandmanagementof
budgetsandrelatedorganizationalfinancerecordsasneeded.Abilitytoadd,subtract,multiply,and
divideinallunitsofmeasure,usingwholenumbers,commonfractions,anddecimals.Abilityto
computerate,ratio,andpercentandtodrawandinterpretbargraphs.Abilitytocalculatefiguresand
amountssuchasdiscounts,interest,commissionsproportions,andpercentages.
