My classroom is adorable. They don?t get right to task like I would like them to and I find myself repeating
directions that should be internalized by now. I need a visual. I have good ?teacher voice?. The countdown thing is
helpful, but still, they aren?t getting settled fast enough. It took them 4:19 to settle down. Oy. We need to work on
that. I?d like it under 2 minutes. I scan the room, use a positive first, and use the TLAC skill of ?I?m waiting for 3
students to be on task.? (Reader?s conferences will be simple to insert during Just Read time) Yadira is always
looking around and distracted. It was good that I stopped to talk to Gabriel. He struggles and he isolates. Again,
Yadira?. totally distracted. Wyatt is not reading. He?s sorting. *(document) We need music. And flexible
seating!!! I MUST fill that board at the front. Most of them are doing an excellent job at sustained reading. Except
Yadira. wow, girl. They need their journals out, so they can make notes about what they?re reading. Study
questions maybe. Prompts? Written on the board, perhaps? Yadira is the first one up when I come back into the
room. Then Maria, then Emma. I need a different notebook distribution system. I?m losing their attention that was
perfectly there a minute ago. They?re starting to talk and mill about? Uggg?. chaos. I need a list of what they need
on the desk. We are in the write and people still aren?t settled. Ugg. The timer works well. I want to tape again on
a day when I?m better prepared. They?re finishing writing too fast. I need to post a list of ways to extend your
writing. That was awesome! I can?t wait to tape my classroom again.
