The basic formula for building a pyramid based on the Russian model is as
follows:
Calculated ratio of the slant edge to base must be SQUARE_ROOT(Phi +
3.118) = 2.1763. i.e base is 1, slant edge (long side of triangle) is 2.1763.
For example if you want to make a Russian Pyramid with a base of 2 meters
then the slant edge is 2 * 2.1763 = 4.352 meters. For a solid side Russian
Pyramid of base 2 meters you need to make four triangles of sides 4.352
meters, 4.352 meters, 2 meters, and a square of 2 meter by 2 meter for the
base.
Or use the:
Ratio of the overall (perpendicular) height to the base of
SQUARE_ROOT(Phi)*Phi = 2.0581 to calculate the pyramid sides.
For example if you want to calculate a Russian Pyramid of say overall height 3
meters then using the height to base ratio of 2.0581 the calculated base is 3 /
2.0581 = 1.458 meters
The calculated ratio of the slant angle (long side of each side triangle) to bas

(short side of side triangle) must be SQUARE_ROOT(Phi + 3.118) = 2.1763.
therefore if the base is 1, slant height is 2.1763 so, if you want to make a
Russian Pyramid with a base of 2 meters then the slant angle is 2 * 2.176 =
4.352 meter.
Using the slant angle to base ratio of 2.1763 you can calculate the slant angle
to
be 3.172 meters. Therefore to make a Russian Pyramid of 3 meters overall
height you need four triangles with sides 3.172 meters by 1.458 meters, and a
square base of 1.458 meters.
Alternative Method: Decide on the size of the square that will form the pyramid
base. For example, say you want a 5 foot base. Now you know the size of the
four sides of the base. Each will be 5 ft. You need four pieces of whatever
material you are using; copper pipe, wood, pvc pipe, etc. Now to calculate the
height. You take the base length (5 ft) and multiply that by 1.618 (golden ratio
) to
get the height of the vertical pieces (slant angle). In this case it would be 5'

1.618 = 8.09'. 8.09 ft is the length of your vertical pieces. You need 4 of thos

Now you can create your square base (easy) and somehow (depends on what
material you are using, so get creative) attach the vertical poles to the corner

the base square, such that they all meet at the top. A triangle has 3 angles and

sides giving a total of six dimensions. However, you only need any 3 of these to
define it. We have the lengths of the three sides, so if joined properly, the an

should come out to 71 degrees at the bottom where the base horizontal pole/bar
meets the vertical pole and 36 degrees for the top where any two vertical poles
