ThecivilservicesexaminationisanationwidecompetitiveexaminationinIndiaconductedbyUPSCforthe
recruitmenttovariousgovernmentposts.Theexaminationisconductedintwophasesthepreliminary
examinationconsistingoftwoobjectivetypepapersandthemainexamination,consistingofninepapersfollowed
byapersonalitytest.
UnionPublicServiceCommissionhasdrasticallychangedthesyllabusofMainsExaminationfrom2013.
InCivilServicesMainsExamination2013insteadoftwooptionalpapers,nowstudentwilloptonlyoneoptional
paper.WeightageofGeneralStudyhasbeenincreased.HereisthenewpatternofCivilServicesmains
