JOB SUMMARY
Updates/upgrade library collection for its reseaqrchers and other library clientele. Technical and mechanical processing of books and other library
collections. Provides library services to students, faculty and other clientele
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans and organizes the activities/programs of the school libraries.


Supervises library personnel in the proper methods of maintaining library collections, records and other phases of library administration.
Supervises/Reviews cataloging, classifying and indexing of collections.
Takes charge of book selection policy through solicitations and purchases.
Takes initiatives to upgrade and improve library services/resources
Provides reference service to students and other clientele
Indexes legal issuances and Deped Memorana and Orders.
Checks newspaper articles particularly on education and related issues and clips and indexes newspaper and magazine articles on current issues for vertical
files collection
9. Prepares/Submits annual reports and accomplishements.
10.Takes charge of the technical processing of books and library collections.
11.Processes books(labelling, providing bookcards, pocket, etc.) mechanically.
12.Shelf-reads.
13.Identifies catalogue cards.
14.Coordinates with school administrators library plans and projects for the year.
15.Posts new book arrivals in the bulletin board.
16.Makes bulletin board display for projects and events in the library.
17.Indexes journals and magazines.

School Librarian I
1. Initiates the establishment and expansion of library services in school.
2. Collects, prepares catalog, classifies and indexes books, periodicals, and magazines according to generally accepted standards and system.
3. Produces bibliographic entries of available library holdings.
4. Handles library subscriptions, gifts and exchange work programs.
5. Orders books and other printed materials and checks them upon arrival.
6. Maintains an inventory of books, magazines and other library subscriptions and holdings.
7. Assists library users in the utilization of card catalog, internet access and surfing.
8. Conducts library orientations on the use of the library and its resources.
9. Integrates library hour in English/ Filipino subjects.
10. Organizes vertical file materials.
11.Prepares a listing of library print materials.
12.Enforces rules and regulations and maintains discipline in the library.
School Librarian II
1. Selects and evaluates books periodicals, pamphlets and other library materials from approved list.
2. Records, classifies, catalogs, prepares cards and date due slips to all books and other library materials before shelving.
3. Documents audio-visual materials, equipment and other information and communication technology aids.

4. Prepares library reports, bulletins and memoranda.
5. Keeps abreast of developments in library science.
6. Performs library marketing i.e., promotions of the use of the school library and its resources.
7. Links with institutions for acquisition of educational materials.
School Librarian III
1. Evaluates existing library programs vis-a-vis educational goals of the school.
2. Initiates the conceptualization of new library activities and library expansion.
3. Coordinates library activities and its implementation with administrators, supervisors and other stakeholders.
4. Designs and integrates action plans and strategies (i.e. organization of library clubs) for the general patronage and maximum utilization of the library and its
facilities without disruption of classes.
5. Proposes procurement plan for upgrading library holdings, equiment and facilties.
6. Adopts various networking activities with other libraries through interlibrary-loan scheme/mechanism.
7. Delegates responsibilities to library staff.
8. Develops programs and projects to improve library services.
