FIGHTING
TOOTH DECAY
SENIOR PASTOR
I was challenged this past week with an acute awareness that something
was wrong with some of my teeth. A crown was missing; another piece came
off later (in a donut, of all things). Fortunately, my good dentist was able to
handle that minor crisis. As I sat in the chair, my preacher mind began to
think about tooth decay.
Cavities occur when bacteria uses sugar to cause the acid in the mouth to
drop and dissolve the enamel. A PH level lower than seven is acidic, with any
level greater than seven being alkaline, or so I have read. If the teeth are not
brushed, flossed, or flushed within 24-hours of eating sweet things, then
bacteria and the process of decay begins. Cleansing is necessary.
We have decay in our nation. Satan has used all kinds of sweet ideas and
approaches to appeal to our carnal natures, with pleasure, fame, money,
and power offering empty calories but also eventual decay and destruction.
Some pastors give Gospel lite that seemingly satisfies a spiritual sweet
tooth and draws crowds, but is not like Paul who said, I am telling the
truth (1 Timothy 2:7) and gave instruction in sound doctrine (Titus 1:9).
Thankfully, our student pastors and workers are laying the right foundation
with our teens in Disciple NOW Weekend, with the largest number of
teenagers pre-registered in our ministry history. They join all of our ministry
team this new year in speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
On this weekend, many churches around our nation are affirming
the sanctity of human life. The sugary taste of pleasure without penalty,
unmarried sex without morals and independence without responsibility
have brought about truth decay at every level of society. God is the Creator,
and we are not the products of evolution; so He is praised, for we are fearfully
and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). He is also the Savior Who forgives
sins, even those taking a human life. You can be like the violent zealot, Saul
(who became Paul) and receive mercy (1 Timothy 1:14). Thats something
you can really sink your teeth into!
*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
Sunday morning 11:00am worship services. Pastor would love to meet you!
Welcome Guests!
We are so glad you joined us for worship! Greeters at the doors can help

you are a first time visitor, stop by the Connection Point for a free gift!
Since 1973, when abortion was made legal through the Roe
vs. Wade decision, almost 60 million children have died as a
result. Sadly, Florida is the seventh largest abortion provider
in the nation, putting to death almost 95 babies each day
across the state. Its time to change the culture. Please come
by the Commons to see all the different ministries associated
with our church to preserve the sanctity of life.
