Research and define the following terms (some are Buddhist


terms, some are people/objects, and some are regular vocabulary
words).
Brahmin A socially or culturally superior person
Om A mystic syllable considered the most sacred in Hinduism and Tibetan
Buddhism. It appears at the beginning and end of Sanskrit recitations,
prayers, and texts.
Art of contemplation & meditation medication is a written or spoken
discourse expressing considered thoughts on a subject. Contemplation is the
action of looking thoughtfully at something for a long time.
Atman The spiritual life principle of the universe, especially when regarded
as inherent in the real self of the individual.
Avaricious- Having or showing an extreme greed for wealth or material gain.
All-Radiant- Radiating rays or reflecting beams of light, vividly bright and
shinning.
Atonement The reconciliation of god and humankind through the sacrificial
death of Jesus Christ
Emanating- To flow out, issue, or proceed as from a source or origin, come
forth; originate.
Rig-Veda- Ancient Indian collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns. It is one of the
four canonical sacred texts.
Discontent Lack of contentment, dissatisfaction with ones circumstances.
Suffice To meet the needs, be enough or adequate.
Ablutions-A ceremonial act of washing parts of the body or sacred containers.
Supplication-The action of asking or begging for something earnestly or
humbly.
Prajapati-Lord of the people, is a group of Hindu deities presiding over
procreation and protection of life and thereby a king of kings.

Transient- Lasting only for a short time, impermanent.


Upanishads of Sama-Veda- Saman means song and Veda means knowledge,
is the Veda of melodies and chants. It is an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text and
part of the scriptures of Hinduism
Sages- An aromatic plant with grayish-green leaves that are used as a
culinary herb native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean
Insatiable- Impossible to satisfy
Discourses- written or spoken communication or debate
Chandogya-Upanishads- is a Sanskrit text embedded in the Chandogya
Brahmana of the Sama Veda of Hinduism, it is one of the oldest Upanishads.
Satya- Is the Sanskrit word for truth, it also refers to a virtue in Indians
religions, referring to being truthful in ones thoughts, speech, and action.
Banyan tree- An Indian tree whose branches produce aerial roots that later
become accessory trunks.
Samanas- Samanas who are known to many as wandering ascetics.
Ascetics characterized by or suggesting the practice of severe self-discipline
and abstention from all forms of indulgence, typically for religious reasons.
Undeviating - showing no deviation; constant and steady.
Resignation - an act of retiring or giving up a position.

Pilgrim- a person who journeys to a sacred place for religious reasons.
