2 Read the story with children. Identify the three parts of the story with them. Ask Who are the
characters in the story? Where does the story take place? What was the problem in the story?
3 Look at pages 2829. Ask What may have happened if the cave didnt give in? Professor Tangle
and the children might have been able to get the jewels. What other treasures do you think were
in the cave? Who could have left the jewels there? If you were the children, would you help Professor
Tangle? How would you do that? Ask children to share their ideas.
4 Look at Part A of the worksheet with children. Say Professor Tangle was able to get the jewels. Ask
them to complete a personal profile for him.
5 Look at Part B with children. Discuss the questions and record down childrens answers with
some keywords. Help them expand on their ideas. Ask them to write an alternative ending for
the story.
