INTRODUCTION

The Agra Canal is an important Indian irrigation work which starts from Okhla in
Delhi. The Agra canal originates from Okhla barrage, downstream of Nizamuddin
bridge. It opened in 1874. In the beginning, it was available for navigation,
in Delhi, erstwhile Gurgaon, Mathura and Agra Districts, and Bharatpur State.
Later, navigation was stopped in 1904 and the canal has since then, been
exclusively used for irrigation purposes only. At present the canal does not flow
in district Gurgaon, but only in Faridabad, which was earlier a part of Gurgaon.
The abul fazal and the shaheen bagh area due to its improper planning has not
left the space for its breathing. That is the space is devoid of any green areas and
its public life. Rampant construction has destroyed the ecology over this place
and in such a huge areas one wont find a single tree to see.

The only space left was the agra canal of This regions which are green due to the
growth of wild trees and shrubs along it. The space along agra canal have a
great potential for the creation of a public domain for this area. An area where
people can come have a walk, have a family hangout, a creation of public domain
for these regions is very necessary for the fulfillment of the social needs of the
people which lacks here. The main aim would be to make these Spaces livable
utilizing Nallah's efficiently.
