These programs provide opportunities for nurturing and playful interactions which promote
cognitive, speech, language, motor, social, and self-help skills. Our Early Intervention Program
specifically includes PT, OT, Oral-Motor Therapy, and a reading program based on the teachings of
Glenn Doman. We believe that for any therapy to work effectively, it must be done with the
appropriate intensity, frequency, and duration in addressing the needs of the young client. We
therefore provide home exercise to reinforce and to hasten habilitation for recovery. Parent and
family commitment is therefore necessary in successfully addressing the developmental problems
of the involved child. The primary care provider must not lose sight of the goals that will lead to the
child's personal independence and social responsibility. Our EIP lasts a minimum of 3 months where
improvements are noted and succeeding goals are identified.
Neuro Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the use of 100% oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure and
is recommended for treating conditions and injuries resulting from deprivation of blood supply. It is
a non-invasive procedure with minimal risks and is delivered through a controlled total body
chamber. Due to its potential healing benefits, HBOT is currently described as “a groundbreaking
treatment” for Stroke, Parkinson's, Brain Injuries, Arthritis, Diabetes, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Heart
Disease, Birth Injuries, Learning Disabilities, Multiple Sclerosis, and much more.
Our “baby blue” chamber at Quality Life Discoveries provides 100% oxygen up to 3.0 ATA. And with
enough leg room for two persons at a time, your kids will feel safe and comfortable during the
treatment session.
Multi-Sensory Environments
Quality Life Discoveries is proud to be the first in bringing to the Philippines the Multi Sensory
Environment (MSE). MSE is a specially designed room that offers stimulation to the sense of sight,
smell, hearing, and touch through a variety of lights, aromas, gently stimulating music, and tactile
objects. The equipments promote relaxation, enjoyment, and exploration.
Although multi sensory environments do not provide a “quick fix”, repeated exposure to these
experiences can help ground and generate responses from children who otherwise have trouble
responding in a typical clinical, home, or school setting. The experience of a child in a multi sensory
environment subtly adjusts the brain chemistry through the senses, setting the tone for motivation
and functional attention. It lowers the stress chemistry and increases the relaxation chemistry.
Multi Sensory Environments are found to increase awareness, focus, and attention, and encourage
participation, and communication in non-verbal clients. Conditions that respond favorably to
multi-sensory environments include:
The intensive exercise program also utilizes the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU) which consists of
system of pulleys, straps, weights, and splints used to perform a variety of exercises for improving
strength, range of motion, and flexibility. It can also be used to allow children to perform relatively
independent skills and movements while supported.
Conditions that benefit most from the TheraSuit™ intensive exercise program include:
Cerebral Palsy
Ataxia
Athetosis
Spasticity
Developmental Delays
Traumatic Brain Injury
Post Stroke
Other post orthopedic surgical intervention
Participation in the program is for 3-4 hours a day, 5 days a week for a 3-week period. Each
treatment session includes a warm-up phase with hot packs, massage, stretching,
weight/resistance training, vestibular therapy, gait training, and functional exercise.
Giger MD™ Rehabilitation
The Giger MD™ therapy is another first from Quality Life
Discoveries. The Giger MD™ involves the use of a medical
device where the arms and legs execute cycling movements.
A computer with a biofeedback software monitors the
performance of the client. Giger MD™ Therapy works on the
basis of the Theory of Coordination Dynamics which states
that re-learning of basic central nervous system function in a
lesioned brain can be achieved through the use of rhythmic,
dynamic coordinated movements. This is attainable through
the use of Giger MD™ Therapy which is also known to benefit
conditions like Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina
Bifida, Osteoporosis, Parkinson's Disease, Stroke, Spinal
Cord Injury (paraplegia and quadriplegia), and other
neurologic conditions.
