for those who didnt, we were touched
by him nonetheless. Every win, every
headline, every interview, we rooted for
him all the way. And his PBR invitational
was one of the most popular &well-attended event ever held here.
To his family, who remain deeply embedded in our community, our sincere

BC Hydro winter
16/17 payment plan

BC Hydro today announced a special

2016/2017 Winter Payment Plan option
that will give residential customers the
choice to spread bill payments over a six
month period. They recognize that many
customers will receive higher than normal bills, and some may need the option
to manage the costs over a longer period
of time. Customers who would like participate in the 2016/2017 Winter Payment
Plan can call BC Hydros customer service team at 1-800 224 9376.
The winter billing period runs from
Dec. 1, 2016 to Mar. 31, 2017.
With the colder than average temperatures this season, BC Hydro is seeing
electricity consumption reach record levels. on Jan. 3, between 5-6pm, BC Hydro
set a new record for power consumption
when demand for electricity peaked at
10,126 megawatts. It broke the previous
record set on November 29, 2006 when
consumption reached 10,113 megawatts.
And demand for electricity is expected to remain high while the cold
snap continues.

Chili Sunday

Come and explore the great outdoors

of beautiful Kane Valley with the Nicola
Nordic Ski Club and their annual Chili
Sunday, on January 15 from 11am-2pm.
Kane Valley and the ski trails are off Hwy
97C and is well-plowed.
The gathering will be at P2, the second
parking lot (watch for the signs). Enjoy
skiing for free, lessons for beginners and
those who would like to improve their
technique will begin at 11am. For lunch,
bring your utensils and chili to add to the
communal pot. Buns, hot chocolate and a
roaring campfire will be provided for the
socializing part of the day.
Snow conditions are fantastic and the
trails well-groomed for skiing. This year
for the first time, volunteers from the
Nicola Valley Explorers will show snow
shoers where the snow shoe trails are and
provide maps separate from the ski
trails so that the nicely groomed trails remain in good shape for skiing.
Memberships will be available, and as
an added incentive this year, is a membership draw for a beautiful Kane Valley
painting by Merritt artist Jean Kiegerl, at

The NV Fish & Game Club will hold
their annual ice fishing derby on Sunday,
Jan. 15, 8am-2:15pm (last weigh-in). Entry

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions
