Chi-Square Test

Ho: The expected and observed frequencies are equal (There is no difference between
observed and expected frequencies)
H1: The expected and observed frequencies are not equal
(O-E)2
2 = ----------E
O = Observed frequency and E = Expected frequency
The expected frequencies are given in the ratio 4:3:9. The total proportion is 4+3+9 =16
The total tigers = 196.
Therefore, the expected frequency of first group (stripes) =
4
----------------- x 196 = 44
16
The expected frequency of second group (spots) =
3
----------------- x 196 = 33
16
The expected frequency of third group (stripes/spots) =

The table value of chisquare at 5% level for (3-1 = 2) fegrees of freedom is 5.991.
Conclusion
Since the calculated value of chisquare (4.7374) is less than the table value 5.991, we
accept Ho.
That is there is no significant difference between the observed and expected number.
