AQUASCOPE 550

HIGH PERFORMANCE DIGITAL ACOUSTIC LEAK DETECTOR

Leaks are located by following the path of the pipe placing the acoustic
microphone on the ground surface and locating the point with the loudest
noise. The Aquascope 550 has been specifically designed to enable the
professional leak hunter to find difficult leaks that are undetectable with
other equipment. It has significantly more amplification to detect quiet leaks,
frequency multiplication to enhance the sound of leaks on large diameter pipes
and a large display showing the frequency spectrum of the sound detected to
enable the operator to optimise the filter settings.

Advanced Features:
Superior sound quality using digital technology
Suitable for metallic and non-metallic pipes
This highly sensitive acoustic microphone has a range of
6Hz to 5000Hz and the manual filters are user
programmable in blocks of 40Hz
Robust, lightweight and ergonomic design
4 scales of frequency multiplication, so inaudible low
frequencies become audible
Simple and intuitive operation
Battery level & LCD display with backlight
Automatic and manual user selectable filters to suppress
background noise
Wind protected ground microphone
Hand-probe for direct contact sounding on pipes, taps,
meters and fittings
Magnetic connection for direct sounding on steel pipes
and fittings
Tripod foot for surface sounding on soft ground
Large frequency range
The Aquascope 550 has a large frequency
range of 6Hz to 5000Hz enabling the operator
to detect leaks at all frequencies.

Versatile hand-probe for direct

sounding and leak location on
soft ground

A new and unique feature in the Aquascope

550 is frequency multiplication. This mode
enables the operator to convert the inaudible
leak noises below 150 Hz to a higher audible
frequency. With this feature it is now possible
to detect those low frequency leaks in PVC or
large diameter pipes.

The hand-probe incorporates a handle and

the same high performance sensor as the
microphone foot. The advantage of having a
push button on the hand-probe to activate
the sounding, makes single handed operation
easy. It allows direct listening on fittings,
includes 3 extension rods to adapt to on-site
conditions, and is delivered together with a
magnetically attachable tripod foot, allowing
leak detection on soft ground.

Frequency multiplication

In leak detection operation, its not possible to

know how long it will take in surveying water
meters, valves, hydrants, roads and some areas
for sounding. Battery replacement is simple
and quick, using Type C rechargeable batteries.

Ground microphone performance

The microphone for the AQUASCOPE 550 is not
just an electronic microphone, it is a high
performance sensor developed for correlation
technology. It is a robust ground microphone
with wind and ambient sound proofing.

The ground microphone device consists of a

pick-up (ground microphone), an electronic
MTI signal processor and headphones.
Pick-ups (ground microphones) are rubber
coated for the shielding against exterior
noises and come with an optional stick or
cord for the comfortable further transport of
a point of measurement to the other one or
are provided with a probe rod microphone
which is a sensor with a magnetic mount and
probe rod for soft ground or tripod frame for
for more compact ground and rough
surfaces.
