Book Report #1 Assignment Sheet

For your first book report, you are able to choose your own book. You may not choose a book that you
have already read. The book must be just right for you and you have to get your book approved
before starting. Please choose your book and bring it to class by Thursday, December 1st.
Remember, we have been learning about the different narrative elements over the past few months.
The narrative elements that you are responsible for including in your book report are: characters,
setting, conflict, plot, point of view, theme, and tone and mood. If you need a reminder of what these
narrative elements are or examples of them, you may look in your Language Arts binder.
For your first book report, you will be reading the book of your choice and completing a Book Report
Dodecahedron. A Dodecahedron is a 3-D model that has 10 sides. Each side of your dodecahedron will
represent a question that you need to answer about your book. The 10 different sides will be provided
to you and each side will be explained. You will put together all 10 sides to create your 3-D shape and
present it to the class and teach them about your book.

Your final product for your book report is going to be due at the end of Readers Workshop on
Wednesday, January 18th.
With that being said, you will have the following days in class to read, take notes, and work on your final
project:
