TEAM TEACHING STAGE

Name of student: Carla Andrea Ramírez López.

Name of School: Escuela Particular N°3 Santa Ana.

Date: April, 21th of 2010.

Task Nº1: Collaboration activities

For the following questions describe as accurately as you can how you have collaborated in
school assigned:

1. What kind of activity did you perform the first time you were asked for help? How long
did it take?

I explained activities to those children who did not understand it. I gave them some examples
of activities as guide. I checked if the students were doing the activities of the class. I helped to
maintain the order inside the classroom while the teacher was explaining an exercise, etc. I
started my assistantship the 30 th of March (the first day of my practice), and I helped the entire
day; however I waited for the teacher’s instructions first. (In all the courses was the same
situation).

2. What were the students doing before you started helping out?

Some students asked me for help, they called me when they realized that they did not
understand very well the activity. However, when the teacher asked me for help, was because
a group of students were doing something apart of the topic of the class, they were doing
homework of others subjects, etc. And other group of children were doing their activities by
their own without any kind of problem (so I only checked them and I asked them if they had
doubts or something).

3. How did the students react? Describe the atmosphere of the room and the levels of
engagement in the room.

The students were really happy with me inside the classroom and with the idea that I was
going to be with them all the semester. They asked me a lot of things; personal information
(age, address, likes, etc), they were very friendly with me. That day, the students were very
active and they participated in every exercise, and for the same reason most of them were
asking me for help because they wanted to spend their time with me.

4. What other assignments were asked you to do? How often?

I had to review some things inside the course’s book, like the attendance, or the previous
planning’s, but the most important were the activities already mentioned which I did it every
day.

5. Were you asked to prepare any kind of special audio visual material learning material
for the students? Were they used? How effective were they?
No, I did not have to prepare any kind of special material because the teacher was the
responsible of the class in those minutes.

Task 2: Lesson Planning

Answer the following questions and explain how you planned the learning activities for your
students. Be as precise as you can.

1. How did you get the information for planning the lessons for your students?

The teacher showed and gave me the previous planning of each course, so I used them as
reference to plan the learning activities for the students. I also used the English book to
identify the principal topics of each unit, in order to approach everything. And other thing that
I used was the “Programa de estudio de quinto año básico” presented by the National
Education Council.

2. Did your guide teacher give you any suggestions for planning?

Yes, the teacher explained me the principal characteristics of each course in order to catch
their attention and motivate them. For example, she told me that in the 4 thgrade I should do
interactive activities because most of the students in that class are very hyperactive children,
so with these kinds of exercises I could have the entire control of the course.

3. How long did it take to you to prepare learning material for your first lesson?

Prepare the lesson plan and the learning material was not so difficult for me because I had a
bit of experience with planning (because of VISE III and Medios Integrados), but I have to
recognize that sometimes I had some problems because I have to imagine different kinds of
activities for each course, taking on mind every student too. However, in general it did not take
long
