BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Scarabeo 3 was delivered by Blohm &
Voss A.G. shipyard in Hamburg during
1975. It is a triangular shape unit, with
three column and three pontoons, able
to operate worldwide.
Born as a 2nd generation
semisubmersible drilling unit, during
its life, Scarabeo 3 was continuosly
upgraded in order to meet market
requirements; the main upgrades are:
top drive installation;
iron roughneck installation;
motion compensator installation;
drawworks break joystick device;
drawworks anti-collision system;
new drilling instrumentation (rig
sense);
upgrade of the mud treatment
system with the installation of 4 high
efficiency shale shakers (Brandt VSM
300), with the capability to install a
fifth unit;
BOP guideline and guidelineless
system;

new BOP pods;

BOP double outlet for kill and choke;
