Running head: SUSTAINABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

Ban, J. (2016). Research on the Development Direction and Trend of Interior Design.
Shijiazhuang City of Hebei Province: 2nd International Conference on Social Science
and Technology Education (ICSSTE 2016).
In this paper, research was done on the development direction and trend of interior design
education under the green building background. Due to the development of the social economy
and people living standard rise, the public has produced great changes to the requirement of the
interior design, for interior designers professional ability is also put forward higher requirements.
Due to these changes, the interior education needs to be changed within universities. This way
the students which major, will be ready to face current requirements, rather than those of
yesterday. The research proposes the perfect model for the interior design education.

Garg, S. K., Nielson, D. L., Shervais, J. W., & Sonnenthal, E. (2016). Thermal Modeling of the
Mountain Home Geothermal Area. Stanford: Workshop on Geothermal Reservoir
Engineering Stanford University.
This article talks about how a home can be built on a mountain, and how different kind of soils
on the mountain hold different capacities. The Mountain Home area is characterized by high heat
flow and temperature gradient. Temperature data are available from 18 boreholes with depths
equal to or greater than 200 m. Although there are large variations, the average temperature
gradient exceeds 80oC/km. This article shows a preliminary 3-D numerical model of the naturalstate of the Mountain Home geothermal area. The model volume is 34,320 cubic kilometers. The
article also shows temperature profiles from the five deep wells with depths ranging from ~1340
m to ~3390 m are used to constrain the 3-D numerical model.

Gilbert, B., Denzer, A., & Jon, G. (2016). Will Prospective Home Buyers Pay More for
Architecturally Designed Solar? Evidence. Laramie: University of Wyoming.
This report shows the results of an initial investigation into the investment price for traditional
rooftop and architecturally designed solar panels taken in by the survey responses of a large
market research panel. The aesthetics of residential solar panels are often a major selling point in
debates over solar policy. Yet strong reports have come up in recent years showing that the
likelihood of an individual home installing solar panels increases when nearby homes have also
installed, showing that not all market participants are turned off by solar appearance.

Roosa, S. A. (2016). Sustainable Development Becomes the Norm. Strategic Planning for
Energy and the Environment, 5-7.
This article describes how the terms sustainable and sustainable development are
misinterpreted as they are very vague terms. It describes how these terms have consumed the
new generations policy making, program development, and technological application. It
discusses how sustainability is about fundamental resources (e.g., water, air, and energy), social
needs, access to technology, and initial investment. Sustainability is manifest in the policies,
programs and technologies that support its sometimes subjective agenda. It is also about
partnership and cooperation. Meeting the needs of present generations without preventing future
generations from meeting their needs as well is the way to progress with the loose terms of
sustainable and Sustainable Development.

Running head: SUSTAINABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

This article talks about how with the arrival of a smart grid and the beginning of advanced
communication and information infrastructures, two-way communication, advanced metering,
energy storage systems and home area networks, the patterns of electricity usage and energy
conservation are drastically changing for the better. As people are realizing their consumption
with the smart grid, and trying their best to cut down. This is because they are not only helping
the environment, but it has also now become cheaper for them to do so, as an added incentive.
